Plastic surgery and testosterone cessassion
I am having a facelift this Friday, and I have had to shut down all hormone therapy for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after per doctors orders. He is considered the one of the best plastic surgeons in the world. This is the 1st time I have been off for over 3 years and I can tell a big difference in how I feel. I getting a younger more athletic look to my face to match my body. lol
I just wanted to give out some information to all the guys maybe thinking about plastic surgery and are currently on HRT. I will update this and let you know how I feel as I introduce my spinach again soon.

Interesting. Did he give a reason why? I have had multiple surgeries while on HRT and have never been advised to stop and never had any complications.
Who's face are you getting to replace you old one?
If you dont mind sharing more details it would be interesting to know what all you are having done and the cost.

I'm curious what his advice would be for a guy not on hrt with 850 total test and 20 free? I see little difference between the 2.

It may not be because of testosterone , not in terms of a technical aspect. Some surgeons will ask you to stop taking anything and everything you're taking before surgery. It helps them feel protected in the off chance that something goes wrong. If that were to happen, no one can come back and blame the doctor for not telling you to discontinue this or that. The exception would be some type of medication or treatment that you need to stay alive, which testosterone does not qualify as.
As far as your situation, you'll be fine. Your energy will more than likely dip down pretty good, but you'll also be in recovery from surgery...you probably wouldn't be feeling that great anyway. Libido may suffer as well but again, recovery. Is it a perfect scenario? No....would staying on TRT actually hurt anything? Unlikely...but it's not going to ruin you or make things extremely difficult.

its a facelift, neck lift, fat graphs and fat buckle pad reduction, the cost is about $20,000. All the plastic surgeons were in agreement on discontinuing HRT. They seemed more concerned with anything that increases blood pressure. As LOW T says, they want you to discontinue everything and take the supplements that they provide which is interesting because most of them are ones that I currently take. During recovery, Anica Montana along with quercetin bromelain supplement and heavy dose of vitamin supplements with aqua cool mask for 7 days. Once I complete 2 weeks of recovery, I can begin my HRT therapy and return to my supplement regiment. it will be about 4 weeks to return to weight training.

I dont take any other prescription medications except, (LOL) Test, growth hormone , peptides, T3 (low dose), metformin, injectable L-Carntitine from my anti aging doctor. I continue to feel very lethargic since I have stopped all supplements about 10 days ago.

surgery went fine, doctor did note that my blood pressure did increase in recovery and was cyclic but not unusual for his male patients. Noted that 90% of all male patients are on TRT or HRT that he sees.

Just my opinion, but if I were in your position and there is no medical reason at all to stop a TRT regimen, I would without hesitation continue on my TRT protocol. And the doctor doesn't have to know about it. Reasoning: T makes for better health. That's what we want. Take T.
Another instance of a doctor advising a patient to do something medically unnecessary. Best to develop a healthy suspicion of any advice about hormones coming from a physician not trained in TRT.

I am coming up on 3 weeks Post op and I can say I am thrilled with the results. I began taking my test at about 10 days post surgery at a very very low dose and slowly increasing it. Surprisingly, I never did feel bad stopping cold turkey for 3.5 weeks. I am taking HGH to help with recovery too. I was told that I was recovering extremely fast from the doc. I still have numbness that is expected to last about 3 months along the ears, but curious to see if the HGH decreases that timeline. I also have the green light to resume weight training on Friday, (thank goodness). I was advised to not to run for at least 6 months and preferred to find alternative cardio methods due to the fact it decreases the effects of facelift over time the jarring effect. I don't run anymore anyway. I still have some swelling in my neck and some in the face but no one can tell that I just had surgery. Will return to work next week. Excited to return to my normal workout routine and my weekly supplementation protocol. I

Good to hear it all worked out. Something I have done/used many times over the years that also helps healing and helps reduce scars to virtually nothing is Silvadene. It's best if you can get it via RX.
