    Dead lift dizziness

I didn't want to hijack the botched phlebotomy thread so I started this one. Had BW and showed my hematocrit was high. My Dr gave me a script for three therapeutic blood draws at one unit per week. Did my first one last Friday. At the time my hematocrit was at 52. Mine went off without a hitch. Fast forward to yesterday, I'm doing dead lifts and each time I finishes the last two sets, started feeling dizzy. I wonder if any of you have had the same thing happen since I have two more to go. I plan on staying on top of this with every other month therapeutic blood draws.

I've experienced the same thing. From my experience, it can be caused by several things: Low blood pressure which can be caused by dehydration, medications such as Cialis, Viagra, and Flomax. And supplements such as beta alanine, argenine, citruline (and any of these in combination) all of which cause dilation of the blood vessels and can lead to lower blood pressure. Hydrate even more if you are taking a combination of these. Then there is the simple fix of correct breathing during exercise.

Hummm, I always get dizzy when I do deadlifts...

    Is it not normal?

I've gotten nauseous with deads and squats but not dizzy. I have ideas that we probably get used to more oxygen being transported in your red blood cells, once that drops I guess it can cause you to perform a bit less. BP was good and hadn't taken a Viagra or Cialis in about a week. Nor Arginine or Citruline. I normally do the draw on Friday and take the weekend off. I'm considering dropping my dose a little to see if I can alleviate this a bit.

Good idea. I never go to the gym the day I donate and take it real easy and don't expect too much from myself the day after.

Yeah, me too. Trouble is this was five days after. Maybe I just work out too hard.

just part of the heavy deadlift game man...I'm always seeing stars at the end of all my working sets. drop your reps or weight and see if the problem persists.
