Started today - Met with Doctor - UPDATED (11/12/14)

I called last week and set up a appy with a doctor here in Jax - based off of a recommendation from another person on this forum.

My brief background - 6'2" 220 pounds 47 years old - work out regularly, etc. I have lost 130 pounds over the last year - by diet and exercise (Planned). I have had low thyroid count in the past but at the low end of normal (I have never taken medicine for it)

They did the initial info, weight, height, blood pressure, etc asked me lots of questions about how I feel, etc. I brought with me my blood work from my normal doctor - Have had low thyroid in the past. I am not sure why but they did an EKG - I haven't done one in years but I heard after losing so much weight they like people to do one and will do extra test for my thyroid.

In the end I left with a prescription of HCG Vial is HCG 12,000 units
the dosage .2CC everyday and Letrozole 1MG taken every other day. They wanted to give me B12 + other thing mixture, etc but I said no that I can get via my normal doctor and turned it down. I was given a class on how to use it, how to reconstitute it and how to inject myself.

Cost was $70 for HCG for 30 day supply and $24 for 30 days supply (15 Pills) for Letrozone. Co-Pay was $20.

I will go back in 2 weeks for lab results and they will determine if I will start T or not.

    -------------------------------------

Weight loss is now at 141 pounds - from 353 down to 212 as of today 11/14

    My blood work results

My Testosterone was at 384 and free was at 51.5

DHEA was at 94 and I started taking a supplement to help that as per my docs suggestion. also my D was low so I started a supplement on that as well.

Doctor prescribed me 200mg of T every 6 days - I am also taking HCG at a dosage .2CC everyday and Letrozole 1MG taken every other day.

Also noted that my estrogen was high at 167 - I go back in Jan for my next blood work

A very odd protocol. And that's a massive amount of Letrozole . Very surprising that your E2 was that high if taking that much Letrozole. You might want to ask your doctor to do a sensitive E2 test - it's almost always significantly lower than the standard in men. Also, how long had it been since you injected testosterone when you took your most recent blood test? Those are low numbers for that dose.

Hi - these results are from a blood test before I started using anything at all. I started using the Letrozole that day (after my blood work was taken) and 2 weeks later I started the Testosterone injections (which was this week on Monday)

I agree with LowT, this protocol is peculiar to say the least.

All 3 medications have been prescribed at very high doses for a starting protocol. I've seen worse, but it looks like this is going to be a difficult protocol on which to be successful. My guess is that it will require some tweaking based on your follow up labs.

I agree - I am in contact with a local person who has the same doctor and it was the same experience for him as well. I already have my next blood work scheduled but may do some blood work on my own - the cost is not an issue for me to have some extra work completed. I choose local doctor since most of it my insurance pays for and he is in my network.

Someone else asked me why I was doing letrozole after my first visit and HCG without doing the Test but it was not clear to me. If it wasnt for someone else who had the same doctor i would be worried but he is very happy and moving along very well and into his 2nd year.
