    My muscle gains on TRT

Ive been on TRT for 5 months now and during this time Ive put in consistent effort 3-4 days/week in the gym. I worked out for 5 years prior on and off and loved it but really started to lose interest when I couldn't put a pound of muscle on for my life without getting a belly. When I started my TRT I changed my diet, it was cleaner, and higher calorie and I ballooned roughly 12lbs in two months along with insane strength gains. I gained another 3 the following! Roughly 3.5 months in a had a neck injury that kept me out of the gym for 2 weeks and I lost roughly 4 pounds, my diet wasn't on point either because I felt sorry for myself. Now this last month I feel Ive found my perfect workout program, my diets been on point and Ive been busting my ass. Im back to +15lbs from baseline and have been asked 3 times this week if Im on steroids !! What a good feeling . Ive been asked once to my face and 2 times Ive heard from a friend that someone asked. Now I want to add I have not mastered my TRT protocol yet and my Free and BioA T are only middle of the range. I was motivated before but now Im gunna hit the weights even harder. This just goes to show what you can do with proper testosterone levels , I personally know I want ever have to take steroid doses to reach the physique I want as long as I keep consistent hard work, I think people jump on that way to quick without laying the foundation.

This is very inspiring and encouraging - and your drive is to be respected. Congratulations and don't let up. I've been on my ass with the flu for a week now and the light at the end of the tunnel looks very far away. At this rate I won't be at the gym any time soon. So this certainly encourages me. Whatever the case, most of us have been blessed with the good health and strong bodies others less fortunate have not. IMO, we ought always to be grateful for this and other blessings in our lives.

Thanks 2sox! Having your mindset on long term goals definately helps when you go through stints where life doesn't let you train temporarily. 2 steps forward 1 back always seems to be the case but thats still moving forward!

I experienced the same as you. Feels great. Like 2Sox I'm still recouping from surgery so I havent been able to really hit it. The bad or maybe good part is my rehab is in the gym! Lol. It just sucks when I have to hold back.

Welcome to TRT for those of us who really needed it. Definitely a step up in life. NOW, just dont do like many of us have done and get to big of a head and lift to heavy and blow out your shoulder. It can take a year or two to get back to where you were if you ever do. Best thing you can do is stay injury free. Lifting HEAVY is not everything and it's easy to lift to heavy before your tendons and joints are ready for it.

Best of luck on your future gains.

This is VERY good advice and something I just learned a hard lesson about. Just read "Bigger, Leaner, Stronger" by Michael Mathews, who advocates heavier weight with less reps. Lots of research and it sounded good to me so I figured I'd give it a try. Result: Immediately inflamed an old injury ("golfer's elbow), and needed several visits to the chiropractor over a few weeks for my back. Then I came down with the flu. Coincidence? I don't think so. I'm in my 60s and I have to realize that I just can't make my body do what guys in their 20s and 30s can do. Sitting home with the flu gave me the opportunity and time to think about this and realize how arrogant I was. We just have to respect our bodies.

It sucks learning the hard way, doesn't it? I truly hope I have had enough lessons for quite some time.

Ditto. To me now, heavy is about eight reps.

Beethoven I know the feeling but youll get back there. I used to go heavy but I find I get the best growth around 8-10 reps anyways. My neck has always been a problem area so for chest and shoulders I go higher rep lower weight. When I used to bench heavy (4-6) I could always feel a sharp pain in my shoulders, obviously if I did that for years Id have some serious problems. I dont think 15% or whatever extra strength is worth that whatsoever.
