NAC: prescription vs. OTC
Is there any significant difference between prescription and OTC NAC?
My doctor prescribed 600mg Cerefolin NAC awhile back. It's reasonably priced after insurance, but it seems that it would be even cheaper OTC.
Is there any reason that I should stick with the prescription version?

Generally, OTC meds are made available as prescriptions so that medicare/medicaid patients will actually take them (because they can get them for free).
Just go with whichever is cheaper.

I can buy NAC by the Kilo. Very inexpensive if purchased in bulk powder on line

Thanks for the insight. I think I'll just start using the OTC NAC instead. It's cheaper than my prescription.
I've been taking 600mg/day. Sound ok to you? I don't cycle and I've never had any abnormal liver values on bloodwork.

I take 1.2g to 1.5g daily. You can even go on amazon and get NAC in bulk.

I wonder if FDA scrutiny has something to do with it. One can be confident of things obtained from the pharmacist.

Bear in mind that NAC is very acidic, so the powder can be tough to tolerate.
