Hard headed friends
Why are some people (friends) so hard headed and not willing to listen to advice?
A buddy of mine knows Ive been on HRT for several years. At first he kept trying to tell me that HRT is not needed for anyone and low T levels were normal. lol
Now I could understand this from most people but he was my gym partner for years and is still a regular gym rat. He also has a pretty extensive medical background due to being a pharmaceutical rep for many years and other experiences.
About 1yr ago he told me he was going to be starting HRT after getting tested due to the normal low T symptoms. He said he was going to be using the gel. I told him my short experience with gel and said it probably wouldnt work. He argues quoting studies of course. I let it go.
After a few months with no improvement he said his doctor had him on 3 pumps a day and he was only just a little above normal range and was going to go up to 4 or 5. I told him it would matter but again he argues so I let it go.
A couple of months later he said he was going to switch to the pads. I again told him it probably would not work and injections were best but again he argued. Again after a few months his levels were even lower and he was getting a rash just like I told him he would.
He started injections a couple of months ago, 200mg ever 2 weeks. Yeah I had told him how it should be done and explained why and he told me I was wrong and didnt understand how the 1/2 life worked in reality. Oh and of course there was no need for hcg or AI. Of course not....
Well, last night he said he is going to start 1x a week soon and his doctor was going to be checking his E2.
Of course it's his doctor who knows everything and I know nothing. lol
No, I'm not even going to try to explain how 2x a week is even better (again) because he will probably figure it out in another year or so.
I often think of the old saying, you can lead a horse to water but you cant make him drink.

the problem is- he knows you in a certain light, you re just one of the guys he hangs with, and due to his ëxpertise" being an pharma rep- he buys into the whole propaganda he was instructed to rattle off .
its a bitter pill to swallow when you somebody with no industry experience ( you) has more knowledge than someone with an intimate industry knowledge (him).
Im finding this out first hand myself- im so keen on helping my freinds, family and wife, but most of them just see me as a guy who is pushing their uneducated opinion as seen on Dr Oz . Or are tainted by the whole steroids = illegal drugs= druggie= criminal mantra we see on tv on a daily basis.
let them all suffer , we will all be asked when we hit 100 and walk around the streets without our walking frames, "whats your secret ?"
then we will shout- ""testosterone therapy you fvcken idiot! ""

LOL, I like the way you think and your right. Thats pretty much what I do. I really dont argue with him or try to push it because yeah I know he thinks it's not possible I could know more than him about something medical... Now when it comes to computers I am the first one he calls or mechanical, or plumbing, or construction, or travel, or best price/shopping for something; but not medical. lol
I really almost had to LOL the other night when he was sitting there telling me how he is going to start doing weekly injections and explaining 1/2 life of testosterone E.
Should I show him my surplus? lol

Yeah I thought about that but I think he is above joining a forum, nothing but bro science here anyways.
Well, IF he did he would recognize my user name so I would have to edit this post and ask Admin to change my name maybe because he knows nothing about other past use and would not understand. Maye in another 10 years he will be up to speed. lol

Wouldn't it be funny if we got a new member who gives us his story about trt and being a med rep and someone rattles off, "yeah aren't you lovbyts friend?"

Yeah I think Simon nailed it dead on balls center. Funny what ego and pride mean to people, myself included, I know I'm guilty. I'm sure ur just venting but don't lose a minute of sleep over it, he's just trying to save face.
I do differ with above, I think you ought to show him your stash, would love to hear his reaction LOL.

Ive got a buddy in his 40's who's a surgeon and he told me I know 10 times more than his doctor buddies abut trt and he had to research all the things I told him about my hrt protocol because it went against everything him and his buddies were taught in med school. And I know jack shit compared to most here. It's down right scary how little most docs know.

hahaha I would not even qualify as a 1st year student compared to you Master KelKel...
I know my place and never claim to be a guru or know it all let alone specialist. I'm just a jack of all trades and master of none.
No, not even venting. More just sharing and lol. Doesn't bother me really. I dont really have a big ego (I like to think). I dont discount what someone else is saying just because they are new, young or have less of an education. You can learn something from most everyone. You just have to learn to weed out the BS from facts.
I more just think it's funny how everything I tried to explain to him as he went through the process he told me I was wrong, I didnt understand how it worked and after exactly what I said would happen happens he tells me as if it's new and I never said anything about it.
I'm not looking for a pat on the back but a LITTLE acknowledgment I was right would be nice. lolLast edited by lovbyts; 03-22-2015 at 10:41 PM.

Speaking in general , I find most bodybuilders know more about a lot of things than some Drs. Professor Kelkel could have his own practice , lord knows he has more knowledge than many licensed practicing Dr's out there. How bout it Kel, can I get an appointment ?

It's called proximity bias. Because he knows you on a personal level and you're not a "certified expert", your opinion is automatically invalidated.
When dealing with people like this in my own life - when my advice turns out to be true - I respectfully say to them, "I told you so you dumb mother f*cker!"
Of course I always say it with a huge shit eating grin on my face.
