    46 fat and just had Total Shoulder replacemnt/ TRT in northeast ohio

    Hey guys I been thinking of seeing if I need trt. I am 4 weeks out of surgery 255lbs 5'9" I am hypothyroid and taking levothyroxone (Synthroid ) taking blood pressure meds. does anyone know of any good trt docotr in or around Mentor Ohio. Is there a good diet pill in prescription form that I can tak. I know I need to get motivated and get off my fat ass it is so hard anymore I get motivated and it is gone it is soo hard to keep it. thanks in advance

    If you're already on blood pressure meds TRT might not be a good option. Some patients have elevated blood pressure when they take Testosterone . I think the issue is that you need to find the discipline to get your body moving and drugs are not the answer. You also have to contend with the shoulder limitations but if you can get your body moving and get your heart working better you "may" be able to come off the blood pressure meds. (obviously with a healthy diet) You can't outrun a spoon.

    pistolpete thanks, My next question am pretty sure you answered, I was wondering if I could take clen a lil bit each day and start doing cardio to give me a boost but am sure it would be better for me to get off the meds first. I am going to see a different doctor for my hypothyroid and see what he thinks I dont feel any different on this synthroid ..

    Clen isn't going to work any magic unless you are already lean. On a 2000 calorie diet it will prob. help you burn 150-200 calories per day. Easier than dealing with the sides is to simply not drink one soda per day and get better results. What you're looking to accomplish can be done with diet and training. It's not always the answer we want to hear but it's the honest truth. Don't look for the miracle look for the discipline and drive to make the change.

    You need to take off the weight the same way you put it on, at the breakfast, lunch and dinner table. Change what you are eating and how much. No magic pill and it wont happen over night. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon.

    Dont jump on the scale every day or every week looking for results, especially if you are exercising. If you want to see the results then start taking pictures of yourself wearing the same clothes (shorts, T or Tank top) using the same camera, same background, same lighting once a month and after about 6 months start comparing them.

    Especially with your high blood pressure you dont want to start taking stimulants and even more so that you are over weight and your heart is not use to cardio. You have a greater chance of taxing it and having a heart attack.

    Dont try to make BIG changes. Most people get discouraged doing this. Just change a few simple things in your diet such as instead of eating donuts in the morning have a banana, dont eat chips, eat some mixed nuts even with chocolate or yogurt covered raisins to give a little more flavor. Dont go into the gym and try to do full body work out 5x a week. get in the gym at least 3x a week and spend most of your time on the bike, treadmill and elliptical and then work one body part a day, nothing crazy or heavy so you dont injure yourself.

    First step is to Google "ADAM questionnaire" and answer the questions honestly.

    If after talking the test you think it's worth the time and money to pursue, check out the Finding a Physician sticky for a list of tests you'll want to get.

    One of the best doctors in the business (Dr. Crisler) is located in Lansing, MI, which would be my choice.

    If you are low, you are low. But it's important to understand that nothing that comes in a pill or a syringe is going to do the work for you. You must do what you need to do to motivate yourself. Then comes the hard work of changing your diet and lifestyle. It's not easy but it *can* be done, and the results are worth it.

    Thank you all very much I will do what you guys suggested, just hearing it from you guys is motivating me, I have my first physical therapy today and after that will go buy fruit and veggies and chicken and brown rice..I will stay active on this forum I think it will help me. maybe start a thread for my progress and post updated pics..

    For what it's worth... Before I was diagnosed with Low T... And by the way, I used the ADAMS questionnaire to convince a doc to even give me the blood test... I was over 400 lbs... I don't know just how much, because I couldn't find a scale that'd go high enough...

    So the ADAMS questionnaire got me the test and it turned it I had Low T... So that's where I began. Once I got on T, it helped me get motivated again... I was very athletic and active before everything went down hill, so I understand... It isn't *always* your fault. Getting my T levels back up got me back in the gym... but there was no way in hell I could do any cardio... I was just too damn big... So I started with weights... My goal was solely to lose weight... it was all about burning calories... Some things improved... but I still struggled with losing weight... After about a year and much research, I found out I had Hypothyroidism as well... It took me about another year of trying different meds and dosages... Starting with Synthroid ... I eventually went to a natural thyroid hormone replacement... Naturethroid.. Generic Armour. Armour has changed their formulation and Naturethroid is more like the original, which worked great for nearly 70 years, before Synthroid came along and all the corp marketing got to all the doctors to drop the natural stuff... However, getting the correct med for your needs is only 1/3 the battle with Hypothyroidism... [And I'm not saying Synthroid is bad, but it's not fore everyone.] The correct dosage however, *is* everything... Most Docs want to keep you on the lowest possible dosage to get you in "normal" range. But it's all about symptoms. Long story short.. Once I got the dosage correct, the weight really began coming off... With lots of hard work in the gym and counting calories mind you. But until I got the Test and Thyroid hormones in check, nothing else would have mattered.... I'm now 200 lbs lighter and at 47, stronger than ever... I do tons of cardio now and my BP has steadily come down. I recently cycled 50 miles... I ride regularly and have covered more than 1000 miles in 4 months... I'm still working toward my goal, but now it's doable... Without the T to keep me motivated and the correct thyroid levels to burn the calories, none of it would be possible... Don't give up... Get the necessary tests and got to a GP if you have to... That's what I ended up doing. If the first guy doesn't work out.. move on.. .and on.. .and on until you find a Dr who will work with you. It WILL change you life.

    As far as the shoulder... give it time... it will heal. And if it turns out you need T, that may help it too.

    i too am a believer that when you are fat- the addition of Test will do wonders- asking someone to lose weight first when they are already lowT is a near on impossible ask- sure the risk of raomatase is higher with obesity- but hell, we have AI for that.

    find a good trt dr and get dialled in keeping a close eye on the Estrogen. losing weight is the same as putting it on- hormones play a big part in it- thats not to say you havent abused food , you need to wake up to the fact you are guilty of that.

    i would stear clear of fruit- they are high in fructose which is sugar- stear clear of carbs ( white foods) and eat meat- all types and veges- you dont need fruit- if you do stick to tart fruits and use them sporadically.

    you dont want your body to burn carbs- you need to burn fat- dont give your body the option of carbs as a energy source. look at the 5:2 diet ( not concurrent days- too hard for some people) and incorporate carbs only at one meal per day if you really must.

    Thank you all for your advice I really appreciate it. I messaged Dr John Crisler on facebook and he has been answering some of my questions, I think I may make an appointment with him and drive out to see him and see if I can get this started
