Hematocrit won't go down
Maybe you guys have some insight into my issue. For the past 3 months my hematocrit has been consistently 51.4
I've been off everything for a month and a half. No gel, no shots, no nothing.
I have not donated yet.
Is that really high? Do you think donating blood would help?
Is there anything else that can cause it? I'm not at high altitude (live in FL)
Thanks in advance for the help!

It is approaching a dangerous level.
Only way is to donate i'm afraid. Double bags would be better
Best of luck

51 is not very high. 55 is where I'd be really worried. If it's climbing, then you need to have a double RBC performed, or at least a whole blood donation. It won't go down unless you let it out. Also make sure you're hydrated properly.
And yes, high altitude, sleep apnea and anything else that would cause oxygen deprivation can contribute to high rbc.~ PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR SOURCE CHECKS ~

If you're on trt, you should be donating regularly.

So true, and it starts an endless loop without donation. Lower O2, body makes more red blood cells, circulation becomes less efficient, lower O2, body makes more red blood cells, etc.
I was in the 52-53% range prior to any TRT and struggle to keep it in that range even with regular donatiins, self phlebotomies, therapeutic draws.Last edited by almostgone; 05-13-2015 at 01:32 AM.

Suggestions: lower t dose, donate blood, check for sleep apnea. After I lowered dose and fixed apnea I'm static and don't need to donate often.

Give blood and no that's not that high. I was consistently between 57-60 before I finally got it under control by donating at 2 different places, 2 different times each and 4 self blood draws in 16 weeks or so. Also I'm not sure if it helped or not but i stopped my multivitamin that had extra iron in it as well during the last 4 weeks and that's when it really dropped. 51.4 consistent might just be who you are. What were you before trt? I was consistently around 50
