    Gels Versus Shots!!!!!

    I have been using fortesta gel for the past six weeks from shots. I wanted to see the difference and this is what my blood work showed;

    with shots:
    Total Testosterone : 869ng/dl (348-1197)
    Free Testosterone: 14.6/dl (6.8-21.5)

    with shots and HCG :
    Total Test:1224
    Free Test: 29.8

    with gel:
    Total Testosterone: 547ng/dl (348-1197)
    Total testosterone: 26.0 (6.8-21.5)

My question is does it appear that the gel is working form the results or should I go back to shots. I am feeling fine except, My other blood work, CBC's, cholesterol, PSA, etc were fine. I am 45 years old and train regularly. Your thoughts.

just preference I would think the gel brought you to healthy levels but injection will always be better in almost any case

It's always an individual thing. If it works for you and you feel good, gels are your thing. Otherwise, they are not. Numbers don't always tell the whole story.

Gels are known for losing their effectiveness after awhile so be aware of this.

Also, you didn't post dates and T protocols with your results so it's hard to tell what's going in with you.

If gels keep working for you, go for it. You'll avoid a lifetime of needles.

Good advice. But it won't last long - from my experience and the experience of many others. And it can become very inconvenient in many ways - particularly in the warm weather, and then there is a concern of exposure to children and wives.

I loved Androgel because of the higher DHT it made for. But as time went on I needed more of it and it got VERY expensive. In the long run, most would agree that shots are better - particularly if you do them SQ with an insulin needle. It's no sweat at all.

By the way, OP. Your avatar is lovely.

I agree with this that shots are better, I switched to shots and found that they are more beneficial for convenience and price, I still can't believe for me its like 1/5 of the price. The Gel for me gave me bad reaction to it, red, itch patches which I hated and my wife as well. But my good friend hates shots and loves the gel or patches, he has a complex of doing injections thinking he will be labeled as a drug addict, lol. The pharmacist gave him crap to buy needles and syringes from them. lol but if you like gel it would be great for you.

He did very well on the gel. Even though his total T is lower, his free T is actually above range and that's the number that matters.

OP, did you have HCG with the Androgel or was that straight Androgel?

If the gel is not cost prohibitive or lifestyle prohibitive, I would go with the gel. It looks like it's working for you. If it ever wears off, you could always go to injections. I've been on TRT for a year and a half, 6 months on injections and 1 year on Androgel . I feel better on Androgel at a lower total T level and higher free T and DHT.

You appear fine on either protocol. Delivery system really doesn't matter. Judge by how you feel and if it fits your lifestyle.
