New Doc - New Protocol - TRT - Thyroid - Etc - Jacksonville
Hello All - I am from Jacksonville - I am 48 yrs old.
I started this journey last November - Low T - High Estrogen, etc
I was prescribed 200mg of Test to be taking IM every 6 days – HCG .2cc everyday and 1mg of Letrozole every two days
Letro dropped my estrogen to almost nothing and I changed to Anastrozole 1mg 3 x week
My TSH was high but they didn't put me on thyroid until 6 months later - A compounded version they make.
All my scripts was through their compounded labs
The office is horrible - long waits - a mess | Pharmacy is worse - no human to get on a phone - insurance paid nothing
now for the dirt - I called to renew my scripts and they no longer can offer Test injections - oral or cream (oral?)
yes that was flag to leave.
----------
Someone I met here on this forum gave me a recommendation for a new doctor here..
I set up my appt and went in with all my blood work and scripts etc and first thing he said was "You were going to Dr. XXXX" - he gives everyone the same scripts over and over without testing if they need everything. He asked me why they didn't test my T4, T3, DHEA, etc. He look really frustrated about it.
Anyway - he gave me all the scripts that I had before to go to whatever pharmacy I want - no more compounding lab except for the HCG.
His New routine
100mg every 3.5 days or 200mg every 6 days of T - I went to CVS and I have a full vial and my fill own syringes versus getting prefilled syringe.
.5cc twice a week of HCG - 1mg of Anastrozole twice a week
He took me off their thyroid medicine and started me on Nature Thyroid 81mg) - The doctor was well aware of STTM
His only concern was my taking of DHEA - Pregnenolone - he told to keep taking what I am taking and will test my blood next to see if I need to supplement these
Also he told me that once I am dialed in and solid I need to come back at 6 months or a year for blood work versus every 3 months at the other doctor.
I was also do my own blood testing that Kelkel recommended just to check my stats.

That seems like a huge amount of anastrozole. I take 75mg Test C 2x a week and I only take 1/4mg of anastrozole 2x a week. 2mg a week would crash my e2 straight to the bottom.
What's your bloodwork look like?

DHEA 125 Range 61-1636
DHT 67 Range 16-79
Free Test 149.1 range 46-224
T4 1.0 Range 0.8-1.8
Total Test 718 Range 250-827
TSH 4.23 Range 0.4-4.5
Estradiol 27 Range < or = 39 pg/ml
T3, Free 3.4 Range 2.3-4.2
Vit D 56 Range 30-100
on my appt this morning He didn't have a big concern over my Hematocrit of 54.1 since my platelet count was 144 140-400 thousand/ul - he said he watched the platelet count as a more conventional indicator instead of Hemacrit but I will go Saturday and give DRBC

Donate as planned. You'll feel better.
BW at a glance:
DHEA: Low if that range is accurate. Supplement with a micronized product.
FT: Mid-range. I always prefer it closer to the top
TT: Fine but FT is what we watch
TSH & T4: Your TSH is elevated. A more modern range is .3 - 3.0. Elevated TSH and low (er) T4 is indicative of hypothyroidism which you are aware. Looks like you need to adjust your meds a bit.
How do you feel?

Thanks. I am giving Saturday morning - I dont want to miss my workouts today and Friday.
I have been taking DHEA 100mg micronized (MRM Brand) but I will bump it u 50 more and I am taking Pregnenolone (MRM Brand) 100mgs. should I increase that as well?
He wanted me to stay on my current Nature Thyroid until next blood work. I wasn't the best patient when I didnt allow enough time between the pill and food and he said stay away from Calcium for 45 minutes to be sure.
I doubled checked and my DHEA is 125 and range says 61-1636 ng/dl
I feel ok - not better not worse. No sex drive

Ok. When it comes to DHEA & Preg I used to be a fan of MRM and used it myself. Something changed with that company, imho, a year or more ago. They stopped labeling as "micronized" and I called them. They swore it still was just a labeling issue. My BW indicated otherwise. I switched over to dhea.com which is more expensive but without question trustworthy. My levels immediately went back up. If you switch, I'd suggest starting at 50 mcg's, not 100.

Thanks. I will do that.
I am going to start taking Test every 3.5 days instead of every 6 (Lazy) and really watching my diet (Traveling for work makes it too easy to eat the wrong stuff).
He didn't want me to come back for 5 months.
What blood work should I hit on next and in how long of a time from now?

Kewe, I am in Jacksonville and have been looking for a doc. I been reading your posts and see you might have found a good one. I have an appointment with Dr. B, but I am not feeling to good about him after reading the forums and reviews posted online. I want to find a doc who actually knows about levels and will treat patients according to what they need.
I think I have to make many new post to be able to instant message you so any information you can provide or any other member in the Jacksonville Fl area is appreciated.
Thanks

My labs are covered by my insurance.. but they do labs only twice a year - I do my own every 12 weeks.
I Pay for T myself using goodrx which was around $35 for a bottle last 10 weeks and I bought syringes myself. HCG I get from their lab around $60 and I have my own syringes and my anti E is $5 for 90 day supply thru my insurance.
