    Vitamin D, DHEA, & LDL

Along with low TT and low FT, I have low vitamin D, low DHEA, and a little high LDL.

This study, linked below, describes the role vitamin D as a regulator of steroidogenic enzymes.

It states that "Further, we found that 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 treatment decreased the production of corticosterone, androstenedione, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and DHEA-sulfate (DHEA-S), while the production of aldosterone and cortisol was unaltered."

    Interesting.

I'm taking D3 supplement to improve my low vitamin D levels. I'm considering a DHEA supplement, but I want to see what the next labs show about my vitamin D level and DHEA before I begin DHEA supplements.

What have y'all observed with vitamin D and DHEA supplements, and those levels from your BW?

There's some contradictory research whether vitamin D lowers LDL. Because D3 is fat soluble, D3 needs adequate LDL to do its work. What have y'all observed with vitamin D and LDL levels with D3 supplements?

I think you may be overthinking this. I only skimmed your posted article but, as it indicates, vitamin D is important for many body functions. Why not just keep it simple? Vitamin D is a hormone that your body produces in the presence of sunlight. Most people are deficient in it. If your blood work indicates you need it, take it. It can only help.

I've bought in to the need for D3, which is why I'm supplementing. What I'm particularly curious to know is if people here supplementing with D3 have seen an increase in DHEA, and a decrease in LDL, since those 2 metrics in my BW need improvement.

I've never tried to track any differences as stated. Although I will suggest that if LDL is an issue you need to get a better picture of exactly what the makeup of your LDL actually is, as it's the key indicator. For your next BW pull either a VAP or NMR Lipo Profile which will break down your LDL particle density (and most everything else) and get a clear picture of what's going on. Basic chol panels just don't do it.

    Interesting read...

I'm a user and a huge advocate of supplemental D3.

Bear in mind, it's advisable to get bloods periodically if supplementing with D3 above 2500iu ED.
