Cholesterol issues and need some info ? Don't know where to start

I went to VA Dec 4th and they are less than efficient so I get 4 free half a$$ blood test a year and 4 from Quest Labs and used to be from the budget one listed in this forum regularly . They do not accept non Dr. scripted BW in GA. ?

So I Go for a Quest Blood Panel tomorrow and I am getting complete BW listed in the beginning of TRT from private MD .I will need assistance in decoding mid next week ?

    Cholesterol Current :

    TEST NAME :******RESULTS***********UNITS**********REF RANGE

    Cholesterol************255******H*******mg/dL***********100 - 200
    Triglycerides***********95***************mg/dL************0 - 199
    LDL-CHOL{CALCULATE}**214******H*********************** 65 - 160
    Direct HDL*************22*******L**********************Re f: >=39
    LDL/HDL Ratio*********9 .7******H*******RATIO*************0 -2 .5

I eat tight, not quite every 3 hrs but clean and only complex carbs . I was training daily ?

I just got back from a 150 mile 10 back packing hike and lost 25 lbs ! I ate all $hit carbs the whole time because that is the lightest way to get pure calories for energy and I still lost that much in 10 days ! That was the end of Nov.

I just do not feel right almost like before I started TRT and I felt like a million dollars before the hike and have never had cholesterol issues and I am about the leanest I have ever been in my life ! If I could get the energy I would really be able to put on some lean mass but can barely get through the Grocery store and back home ?

I have not got E 2 tested but will tomorrow ? Feels like crashed E 2 but can't be ? Just taking Test 100 mg a week and just stopped Tren E before the hike ?

Does anyone feel the hike and cholesterol & low energy are related ? I am lost ? I have a few other readings from BL but not the true Male hormone panel just general physical blood work ??

I will copy and paste next total BW !

HELP ! ! ! I feel this drastic change could be serious !

This is the blood work I will have to argue with my MD tomorrow I am going to request ? Any that experienced members may recommend passing or crossing off the list ?

    Lipid Panel

    HDL/LDL and Total Cholesterol

    Triglycerides

    Homocysteine

    The Hemo Profile

    WBC Total (White Blood Cell)

    Neutrophils

    RBC (Red Blood Cell)

    Hemoglobin

    Hematocrit

    MCV (Mean Corpuscular Volume)

    MCH (Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin)

    MCHC (Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration)

    RDW (Red Cell Distribution Width)

    Platelets

    ABS (Differential Count)

    Neutrophils

    Basophils

    Lymphocytes and Monocytes

    Selected Clinical Values

    Sodium

    Potassium

    Chloride

    Carbon Dioxide

    Glucose

    BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen)

    Creatinine

Creatinine is a byproduct of creatine phosphate, the chemical used in contraction of skeletal muscle. So, the more muscle mass you have, the higher the creatine levels and therefore the higher the levels of creatinine. Also, when you ingest large amounts of beef or other meats that have high levels of creatine in them, you can increase creatinine levels as well. Since creatinine levels are used to measure the functioning of the kidneys, this easily explains why creatine has been accused of causing kidney damage, since it naturally results in an increase in creatinine levels.

However, we need to remember that these tests are only indicators of functioning and thus outside drugs and supplements can influence them and give false results, as creatine may do. This is why creatine, while increasing creatinine levels, does not cause renal damage or impair function. Generally speaking, though, increased levels are indicative of urinary tract obstruction, acute tubular necrosis, reduced renal blood flow (stemming from shock, dehydration, congestive heart failure, atherosclerosis), as well as acr*****ly. Decreased levels can be indicative of debilitation, and decreased muscle mass via disease or some other cause.

    BUN/Creatinine Ratio

    Calcium

    Liver Function

    Total Protein

    Bilirubin

    Alkaline Phosphatase

AST (Aspartate Aminotransferase, previously known as SGOT)

ALT (Alanine Aminotransferase, previously known as SGPT)

    Endocrine Function

    Testosterone (Free and Total)

    Nomal range, total Testosterone:

    Male

    Over 40
    240-950 ng/dl

    Normal range, free Testosterone:

    Male
    50-210 pg/ml

    LH (Luteinizing Hormone)

    Estradiol - ( Ultra sensitive male Panel ) E-2

Thyroid (T3, T4 Total and Free, TSH)

    T3 (Triiodothyronine)

    T4 (Thyroxine)

    Free T4 or Thyroxine

    TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)

If you are worried about cholesterol, go on a low carb diet. Eat basically paleo and carbs only when you have no other option.

I guess I assumed that when a male that has been training for several years and according to my profile tight and clean = low carb & high protein and a balanced portion of complex carbs for energy . I did not list age in 1st post ? Diet is not the answer it is something eternal but thank you for your guess Also did you read that I lost 25 lbs in 10 day backpacking ?

Headed to the Dr for Detailed Blood panel !

Welcome advice or thoughts from any experienced members

Buzz, my good cholesterol has Been low ever since starting trt. Just a side effect. If you are on other things besides that, there might be your problem . I am almost your age. Just a thought.

Hey thanks for the input ! But did you read what my good bad and average was ? + elevated white blood cells ( Can be caused by fatigue and stress also to fight infections ) I have that value also if anyone thinks they can offer up on issues with elevated white blood cells beside Leukemia ? ! ? ! ?

Yeah I have really been training hard and fell in love with Tren A and had been off of Tren A for about 5 mths. and when I ordered only Tren E 200 was available and at 1st I thought it was a rec drug the rush it gave me and that was the reason for the 10 day 150 mile backpacking trip Nov., 17 I felt like superman ! !

I have felt like $hit ever since I got back and went to the VA and all I got was BS and went to my private MD today and did the full BW panel the is recommended in the sticky for the beginning of TRT .

The nurse who is not supposed to really tell me what to do is very sweet and she said the strict low carb nutrition input I was used to and then 10 days of 95% simple carbs ( STILL LOST 25 LBS IN 10 DAYS ! ) had my brain and everything all screwed up and to drink 2 gals of Gatorade zero or equal and get back on my normal diet except watch cholesterol Bad fat even more and gave me her home # to call Fri and see if I was not 100% ?

So I figure at the worst i will have a new female friend and it sounded believable or I wanted to believe it would be that simple to feel good again !

I am also going to take 10,000 iu's of D-3 to boost things in general ? ? ?

So that is my plan and I still welcome experienced advice !

I really think every little thing is gonna be alright soon !

Mate im not a mind reader, if your cholesterol is high , its either hormone or diet related, considering you havent changed your hormone levels ( assuming!) its diet.

Get that in check, you are obviously doing something wrong with your diet if your hormones are 100% in check.

Ifr your diet is in check- then it must be your hormones. Without bloodwork nobody can help and all we can do is go off assumptions.

Good luck, i leave it for the experienced members to help you out.

Did you possibly read that I asked for thoughts from experienced members not half baked half interested members ! There are some very smart guys on this forum from Canada ! You do not seem do be one since you lack simple reading skills !

Simon1972 ---you have nothing to prove to me and for sure your answers do not imply experience ! Sooooo yes this is an open forum ! But please piss off mate your thoughts are not needed or even desired they just a farts in a whirl wind !

Again showing your lack of reading ability the second post showed the blood panels I got Tues and that decided before you made the join the party post not even knowing my back ground as many members do ! So lease post in another thread I am sure they would welcome all of your intelligence !

Wow, having a crack at the first person that tries to help you, with your pathetic responses to offers for help i doubt anyone would be as willing to offer any help to you in the future, obviously your estrogen is too high.

You offer that uneducated info with a small amount of blood work BW ? ) LMAO !.

You really think highly of yourself to claim to be a person , just because you pull some 099 answer out of your a$$ that 95% of the members of this forum would know ? Again if you would have red . I asked for experienced members ( You show your lack of education by not even noting I was coming off Tren and you mentioned assuming I had not changed my Hormone levels ? WTF ? ! There are plenty of senior and educated members that will assist when my BW is back . Soooo seeing you want me to be your mate and I am not remotely interested in your thoughts or anything else . . . could I politely ask you to just please not respond because I will not be responding to you ! I think I am far ahead of you on knowledge and do not desire to teach you ! Read your profile and that would give you some more educated insight if you read mine !

My response to you initially was based on my cholesterol \diet turnaround, where my cholesterol dropped into optimal within 3 months of diet change.

My response about blood work was after you replied that you are about to get more blood work. Considering you also upped your carb intake on the hike you cannot discount the effect a high carb diet has.

If you want experienced responses , go pay a Dr vast amounts of money, if you want to have random acts of kindness from strangers who just want to offer maybe a slight (inexperienced) insight to help you through you dilemma, post on a free forum.

You may not like my responses as they are not the clinical type response you were looking for, I may have given you what 95% of the forum members would know. But 95% of the members have not responded, but I did.

I'm glad you threaten that you wont respond to my posts, but I doubt you will, be able to help yourself. seeing your LDL as high as it is makes me smile.

You are laughable. I certainly hope I don't get as unhinged and desperate as you have become.

Buzz, Simon is only trying to help. If you treat fellow members with attitude no member is going to be willing to help.

Easy to get annoyed at your problems but don't take it out on others.

Will post new BW next week in the HRT forum and compare to BW panel suggested in the stickies and get some of you guy from the HRT forum to offer your experience thoughts as to how it all adds up ! I think just the few words Kel offered may possibly be part of the reason ? I have not had any Tren E since mid Nov. and eating tight should be about out of my system after over a mth and added a little Ai extra as ,25 Arimidex every 3rd day and going back to every 4th day !

But I have an MD to get the BW ordered for free and the VA to screw things up and offer another blood panel !

I for sure do not want , to have random acts of kindness from strangers who just want to offer maybe a slight (inexperienced) insight to help ME !

Thanks TimeRoman , KeKell , Bass , FarfromMassive, Beethoven , Fit2bold , Even Jason with lowtestosteron.com and all you other gent for assistance in the past ! Quality experience info off this forum from seasoned members are what allowed me to have a hormonal balance for the past 2 years and still do a blast from time to time ! Many thanks to all who have assisted in the past !

I have been fortunate to be a member of this forum almost as long as that guy and got lots of quality and helpful info that was a really educated offer at a solution not just simple Simon stabs at the obvious . I am 11 years older have about 10 bad years of abuse of AAS and 3 great years with great gain and even the pics in my profile make me proud of my gains and all a result of experienced members of the forum ! Issues I thought of weeks ago and as I stated 95% of the members of this forum know . When I get the impression my words are not appreciated in a thread I am mature enough to STFU ! Some people just have to have the last word and are clueless even after a polite request !

I think I compete with no one except myself and to be 56 and 100% disabled I just try to stay fit and healthy ! So all the other 100% disabled Vets that have changed their life as much as me in 3 short year I would like to hear their thoughts and see what they think ! I do not have time for inexperienced uneducated acts of kindness ! Each day is a gift to me and they are getting shorter !

So I may be a little intolerant of dumb people but in 3 year seasoned and educated member and not my Dr have assisted me in my HRT therapy and offered up sound comment and not just words on a page ? Many members so thanks for your concern and you may be right ? But I have not been trolled on a real health condition like this guy had a hard on for me ? I have no idea why ?

Buzzard, I'm offering this in the spirit of being helpful. If there are only a couple of people who you think are experienced enough to answer your question, why not send it to them directly on PM and ask their opinion directly?

I'm sure I'm not experienced enough to offer an opinion that is worth much, but anytime there's any significant weight loss, lipid values will move all over the place and are not reliable for a couple months.

I started to get a headache reading through all this so I'll just stick to the topic. Your lipids seem pretty skewed and considering you're in the VA system why not ask your Doc about Crestor? As little as 5 mgs, 3 times a week can bring your lipids back in-line and possibly boost your HDL (Good) Cholesterol. Look into it...

Hey thanks for this suggestion ! I have been told that Statonions are worse for you than the high cholesterol ? Not sure if this is true but I have been trying to steer clear of statonions ? Is Crestor a statonion ?

Statins are a viable treatment for skewed lipids especially as you age. Dont listen to all the bro-science nonsense. You're doing more harm by doing nothing about it and diet simply does not work for some folks. You run into problems when the daily dose is too high. Crestor is very effective in as little as 5 mgs, 3x per week. Ask your Doc...

Again, I would make sure you have a real cholesterol problem, and this isn't a result of your recent weight loss. Infections, vitamin A deficiency and hypothyroidism can also cause elevated cholesterol.

And then I would definitely do some of your own research here. High cholesterol is not strictly related to diet, otherwise diet would always fix it, and it doesn't. When the body experiences stress, and I mean this on a molecular or cellular level, the body makes more cholesterol, because you need to make increased cortisol. Most people who have high cholesterol also have elevated hs crp, meaning that they have a lot of inflammation.

Statins do not reduce all-cause mortality; they reduce cardiovascular events somewhat, but people still die at the same rate,

Statins work best in men under 65 who have had heart attacks, and the effect on these men is still mild (if I recall correctly, 65 men need to be treated with statins for 5 years in order to prevent one cardiac event).

Taking statins may slightly reduce your risks for cardiovascular events, but they increase your risk for cancer and diabetes, hence, the mortality rate is the same. When I hear this, it makes me think we do not fully understand the role of these lipids in the body, and their role in the hormone cascade. For example, in the famous Framingham study, older people who had naturally low levels of cholesterol had higher rates of death from all causes than those with higher cholesterol.

I think someone with evidence of cardiovascular disease might consider statins differently than someone with transient high cholesterol.

After the hike I have had unbelievable arthritis pain and possibly will need a hip replacement 1 have been out right forcing myself to go to the gym and my workout are pure mind or desire !

That is what I have been told that stations were a 50/50 chance to take that the odds were about the same from people taking Station and ppl not same mortality rate and in some higher is people taking station ? This is your information that backs up my original concern as whether to take them or not ! With my food intake beck on track ans should have a detailed a BW panel posted tomorrow in the HRT SECTION ! I am going to talk to my Dr. snout short term use of stations ? I already have PAD and blood clots in my left loser extremity , had 4 clots hit my lungs and still her to worry about this

Reading stats and conducting research is fine and should be encouraged. However, it can lead to contempt before investigation if done in excess and many dont even recognize it happening.

Even the most effective drugs have volumes of negative and/or lopsided data on the internet to support a given opinion. People research this data to death and in the end many times do nothing to address the situation at hand.

I've found the best course of action is to get aligned with a Doctor that specializes in managing Men's health. Someone that has working knowledge of the meds they prescribe to a population of men over the years which provides a baseline of what truly works in maintaining optimal health.

While this can be difficult to find, it's what has worked best for me. I truly dont have the time (or knowledge needed) to micro-manage my health.

Any chance you could answer your thread without the unnecessary backhanded attacks.Especially considering the rudeness of your previous posts, this comment is a bit rich.
