Low Testosterone and ED in Young Male. Good doctor in New York?
Hello Steroid .com,
I found this site by reading so much online on low T and ED. I'm almost 30. I've heard 20s are the best yrs and it’s been my worst. It's tough to be in a relationship with ED and low libido. While I tried to stay positive, it’s because I’ve been sucking it up and ignoring it, with brief periods of trying to figure it out. No longer. On the bright side, I feel these problems have given me a rare sense of courage and motivation to help others struggling with this, especially young males who tend to get more resistance from urologists to treat these issues. I exercise and have a decent diet. Sleep is average. I don’t do drugs. I rarely get morning wood. My erections get worse if I stand, which I’ve read that low T and venous leakage may be the cause of. I assume low T is contributing to ED, but I have no idea what's causing low T. Exploring why may help achieve optimal treatment.
I eventually decided to see 2 local urologists. They both didn’t feel comfortable treating me with HRT given my age. It’s possible neither had much experience with it in younger patients. The 1st urologist, Dr. Gary Goldberg, prescribed dhea which barely raised my T, did nothing for libido/erections, and may have accelerated hair loss. After pushing it, I was also prescribed clomid, which made a big jump in my T, from about 200 ng/dL to 750 ng/dl within a month. I felt no change at all and even read that it can make libido/erections worse compared to other forms of HRT, so I stopped after about a month. Maybe stopping after a month was too soon. I was also prescribed Cialis and Trimix shots, both which did nothing for libido but helped sometimes with erections. The 2nd urologist, Dr. Bruce Gilbert, did a penile doppler scan and stated I have a primary arterial issue that is contributing to ED. He said while rare, people are usually born with it or it's caused by injury which I don’t remember having. He felt Cialis/Trimix was the answer, and even said my low T numbers of around 200 wasn't low enough to cause ED! He also sent me for a bone density xray scan due to low T and vitamin D being linked to osteoporosis/diabetes. Awaiting results.
I live in Bellerose, New York City. Do you guys have any recommendation for which doctor I should see specializing in low T and ED? Since I’m taking health more seriously now, I'm willing to travel far for a knowledgeable specialist. Of course, I prefer not to if there are good specialists here in NY. Has anyone heard of Dr. Michael A. Werner?
