Testosterone’s Bad Rap ~ Todd Thomas
A couple years back Powerhouse Gym asked me to write an article for them about low testosterone . They wanted something that talked about "manopause" so I came up with the following article. They said it was too strong Meh I didn't think so at the time and NOW I definitely do not think so.
Demonized by many and proclaimed to bring back your youth by others. What is it that makes everyone associate the word testosterone with egotistical and anti-social behavior? Who has brainwashed us to believe that this hormone will make us treat our children like the red headed stepchild, or slap our significant other for complimenting our haircut? Studies on men and women have proved the exact opposite. Testosterone has actually increased fair bargaining behavior and sociability in both sexes when observed against a placebo (1,2). Men and women that “thought” they were consuming testosterone displayed anti-social and egotistical behaviors. Who cares though you don’t need testosterone anyway right? Isn’t testosterone for building muscle and getting jacked?

Well written and right on point. Good read.

Very Nice! I always thought the same - it's horrible to go thru andropause (manopause) -- I experienced this first hand and it's not something I wish on my worst of enemies -

There is such an unfair double standard associated with Low T. Women receive sex hormones from the time they are in their early teens until death practically. If a male has problems with his reproductive system, they have to jump through so many hoops and social stigmas just to get back to normal. The PED witch hunt spilled into medicine and is now culturally entrenched.

I think a lot of this comes about by its use in sports. The fact that it is so widely used says something about how good it is. By this stigma attached to it seems to wipe out all the good it really does. This literally changes lives.
