Arginine to lower high BP
Thought some may benefit from this video. There's an option for a long or short version of it.

Any body know of a good brand that works and that I don't have to chase it with a shot of pepto bismal? I currently have both citrulline and arginine from Now Foods, in pure form, but causes some serious intestinal issues. While the results are good, my a$$ is paying for it.

Some supplements say Arginine, others L-Arginine. Any difference as for which one to purchase?

Been taking in pill form. Love the stuff. I think it's better to get the powders?? I'll check out that site, austinite.
The pill I'm currently taking has l-arganine and citrulline. Would I need to get both in powder form or just the arganine? Do I even need the citrulline?
ThanksLast edited by Rusty11; 08-28-2013 at 05:28 PM.

Both are best. Even though Citrulline is converted to arginine... Arginine has 7 metabolic pathways and 4 of them directly support muscle fibers. The combo is very synergetic.
Powder form is best, but if you can get ahold of a micronized version in pill/capsule form, that would be just as good.~ PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR SOURCE CHECKS ~

I've been taking 4 to 6g daily of each (citr/arg). This video says eod is fine. Thoughts on that?
-
08-28-2013, 10:30 PM #23
Yeah why not. Heck I've been taking 5 to 7 grams of arginine before bed (not including what I take through the day), it promotes resting growth hormone . The most I can handle without feeling stomach discomfort is 9 grams. But I can take 20 grams in a day so long as I split the dose up throughout the day.

Too short lived for EOD intake. You'd still benefit, but ideally, daily is where you get the compounding effect and benefit far more.

^ I prefer 2 melons Be sure to get into the rind, that's where most of the citrulline resides.

See, Effects of dietary L-arginine intake on cardiorespiratory and metabolic adaptation in athletes. Bescós R, et al. Int J Sport Nutr Exerc Metab. 2009 Aug;19(4):355-65. (In conclusion, dietary L-arginine intake on the days preceding the test does not improve physiological parameters during exercise); see also, Hemodynamic and vascular response to resistance exercise with L-arginine. Fahs CA, et al. Med Sci Sports Exerc. 2009 Apr;41(4):773-9. (The increase in central arterial stiffness and wave reflection was not attenuated by acute supplementation with L-arginine; furthermore, blood flow was not augmented with supplementation. On the basis of these data, l-arginine does not appear to change the hemodynamic and vascular responses to resistance exercise.); see also, No effect of short-term arginine supplementation on nitric oxide production, metabolism and performance in intermittent exercise in athletes. Liu TH, et al. J Nutr Biochem. 2009 Jun;20(6):462-8.(The results of this study suggested that short-term arginine supplementation had no effect on nitric oxide production, lactate and ammonia metabolism and performance in intermittent anaerobic exercise in well-trained male athletes),
Oral intake of l-arganine is useless and a waste of money. It never gets past the digestive system. L-citrulline works fine because it makes the trip and is converted to l-arganine by the body. Nitrates also work very well as vassal dialaters.

There's a million studies on arginine, and millions of people use it successfully. Visit the supplement section, take a look at all the members that posted results, images, etc... I've logged my Nitric Oxide levels as well. If you can find the full study above, I'll be happy to debunk it for you.
Arginine utilizes 7 metabolic pathways and 4 of them directly support muscle tissue. That's not the case with citrulline, so while it converts, it is still optimal to use both. Arginine is a semi-essential AA and so you wouldn't be able to produce enough for optimum health. Obviously there are micronized forms, powders, Malate Citrulline that absorb better, but toy say it's useless is absolutely inaccurate.~ PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR SOURCE CHECKS ~

I take my L-Arginene and Citrulline pre workout, can I mix Synephrine with it since I have to take it pre workout as well?

thought its useful to make this update. my BP lately was averaging at 150/85 and was getting frustrated trying to get it down naturally, so I incorporated L-Arginene and Citrulline for the last 3-4 weeks and my BP the last week been averaging at 125/75 while on Austinite's Fat Loss Stack. thank you Kel for this thread!
