Use whatever you want as long as it doesn't contain much fat. Keep your fats to a minimum while insulin is active. IMO, water tastes better with most proteins anyways. But that's just me.
Good luck.

Milk or water depends on the shake. I need Milk with whey but the proteins that are more of a mixture from Casein to whey I need water. I dont like thick shakes.........
Solidmass, just make sure the shake contains the proper macros needed and stay away from fat as Gear stated...............

While lactose is low gi, it's actually very high on the insulin index.
The sugar in milk is sucrose - half fructrose/half glucose. You probably don't want too much of it as fructrose is inferior at replenishing glycogen stores.

Don't get fooled by the terms "complex" and "simple" as some carbohydrates are classified as complex carbs but are fast acting.

lactose is the carb in milk. It is very low on the Glycemic Index, lactose is difficult to digest. Low Glycemic Index food reduce insulin secretion, and blood glucose concentrations.
and:
lactose is glucose+galactose not sucrose, sucrose (glucose and fructose) is table sugar, both are dissacharides there is a lot of to consider with carbs; type of bond,if is procesed or not, food hardeness.
put attention to gear said.
if you do not know,do not opine.
we should do periodic tests (nutrition, endocrinology, pharmacology and so on) here at steroid .com
and evaluate to all and put the results, public.
first is lactose, second sucrose.Last edited by oswaldosalcedo; 03-04-2006 at 11:40 AM.
