I have a member at my site that was using igf-1. thanks god it wasn't insulin!!
The problem was that his numbers were not adding up.
I'm really glad this happened and here's why. If this was insulin, this could have been fatal.
    Quote:
Reconstituted 1mg dry with 2ml AA. Dosage was supposed to be 80mcg, cut back to 60 after two days, as BP was too high, etc... Measured 16iu the first two, then 12iu the last four days. This is day six, and the bottle is empty. I can't see where I went wrong, but that comes out to 166.667mcg/ day to get an empty bottle after six days. WTF??? Thanx guys

here was the problem. And anyone could have made the mistake. Hell I have never seen this addressed before.
There are different types of insulin syringes out there and I'm not just talking about 1ml, 1/2ml, 1/3ml.
There is the HUMAN type which is U-100 type syringes
There is a VET brand (Dogs and cats) of insulin syringe U-40 type syringe.
you don't want to use this type of syringe.
They are not calibrated the same.
They are 2.5 times that of a human syringe.
If you were to inject what you thought were 10ius of insulin with this u-40 type pin. You would actually be inecting 25ius of insulin.

So be sure to save yourself the problems that could arrise from this and use U-100 insulin syringes.

so even though it was IFG he was using.. he brought about a very good concern..

Not all insulin syringes are the same

Personally, I have never bought anything that is NOT human grade, includeing AS. Homebrew all the way for me. I know exactly what Im getting and doing. But this is a great post as I know people who do buy some of their supplies from vet supply sites. Great job Jeff.
