Mk-677
whats the deal? I was wondering why the hype dies down b4 anyone I know ever tried it. I know Merk has begun testing again and I have read several studies and endocrinology journals that have all noticed a definate response from this substance, does anyone know what happened to its reputation
? or why it never took off?

What is it? Some new machine gun?

It is a non-peptide, orally active secretagogue that is supposed to mimic GHRP-6 in function both in vitro and in vivo. I agree it sounds like a new military super machine gun to fight terrorism though.
I am not sure what happened to the buzz about it. I suspect one of the usual suspects - the money trail plotted out and looked like it didn't have a prosperous ending, it just plain didn't work out in humans like it did in animals, or the level of performance didn't make sense given the investment to the companies experimenting with manufacturing it. That is just a shot in the dark.
I don't know ... we may still see it show up at some point if there is real merit to it. There are a lot of good ideas that never see light of day just because they can't generate a viable enough target audience to pitch it as a big business model but they end up in our arena eventually on a small scale.

^^^ my understanding is Merck is and has been testing it on humans with positive results. There are many form that have been developed and tested but this is the most promising financially as Merck has already projected profits for the drug

if you look at this study (done on humans lol) it shows a peak Gh response of 22.6 ng/ml as compared to 7.4 ng/ml placebo group.
MK-677 is a nonpeptide spiropiperidine previously demonstrated to be functionally indistinguishable in vitro and in vivo from the potent peptide GH secretagogue GHRP-6 (16). MK-677 is active after oral administration in animals (16, 17). In healthy young men, MK-677 was substantially more efficacious than GHRH, producing a mean peak GH concentration of 22.1 µg/L after an oral dose of 25 mg (M. G. Murphy, data on file, Merck Research Laboratories).
the dose used in most all of Mercks testing was 25mg ED at nightime. It is currently being tested as a treatment for immune diffincies such as AIDS in order to increase nitrogen balance and provent muscle loss and wasting.
