100 Units = 1cc/1ml on a U100 Insulin syringe.
1iu of HGH = approx. 333mcg
Once again this confusion is created by the fact people have decided to interchange the usage of the acronym "IU"
VOLUME on an insulin syringe is refered to in pharmacology as a "UNIT".
An "IU" is a measure of mass. It is defined in pharmacology as an "International Unit", and refers to a specific mass/weight of compound that results in a specific measure of observed bilogical activity.
For HGH, 3IU is approx 1mg. Or, 1IU is equal to about 333mcg.
Now, as you can see, if people are referring to both volume and mass as an IU, no one has a god given clue which context someone is referring to.
Did they really mean a unit or really mean an IU?
Example:
Joe tells Jim to shoot 50 iu of HGH PWO. WTF?
Well, Joe really means to shoot 50 Units on a slin pin, NOT 50 IU of HGH since that would be insane. Still he did not say how it was reconned so we do not know the concentration, thus we do not know how much HGH was in the 1/2cc he shot. However, many people assume that most recon a standard 10IU vial with 1cc which equates to 1IU per 10 unit mark on a slin pin.
My point in all this is to just be aware of the lingo and what context people are throwing out acronyms, along with other assumptions.Last edited by Deep_Fried; 03-23-2009 at 07:58 PM.
