    Dietary Fats, Insulin timing..?

Planning a run of slin very soon and getting my protocol dialed in. Will be using Humalog (lispro).

I'm posting this here rather than the nutrition/diet section in hopes that experienced slin users/vets can give the best advice...

I understand that while the slin is active after injection, dietary fats need to be kept out until its cleared your system. But what about fats pre injection?

My first meal is usually about an hour to an hour and a half before I workout and it contains fats. I will only be using slin post workout. Workouts generally last an hour and a half at most.

So... Is there a time frame in which someone would need to wait AFTER ingesting fats in order to minimize body fat gains?

Any experienced advice is greatly appreciated!

Depends on how much fat you ingested (more than 30 g or so of fat slows digestion), how big the meal was, and how fast your metabolism is.
You'll never be able to not ingest any fat while insulin is active in your system, but just try to avoid eating a bunch of fat for 2-3 hours before the shot.

I wouldn't worry about the fat in your preworkout meal since this will be 2-2.5 hrs. before your slin injection plus your workout will break down fats quicker. Just make sure you keep little to no fat for about 3 hours after your slin injection. If you need some added cals look into MCT oil...apparently ok to use in moderation while the slin is active.

Thank you guys both for the response..

Fist meal cals are 1078, fat is 18g, carbs 153, pro 101... Total cals for the day are right at 5000.

I track all my cals/macros using My Fitness Pal so I know it's accurate. I'm changing around some of my meals to fit the fats later in the day after the 3 hr window.

While I have your attention, how do you guys feel about intra-workout carbs? Right now I'm using 50g glyco-fuse with 5g BCAAs through out the duration of my workout. Keep this in? Or, should I back this down to say 25g of carbs or take it out all together??

My plan was to use a mix of Dextrose and Karbolyn (only because I have both on hand) for my shake after the slin injection.

Trying not to go overboard with the carbs that's why I asked about keeping/taking them out during my workout session. And yes, I have been monitoring my glucose levels with a meter for the past few weeks just to get an idea of how I'm reacting to certain foods and timing of meals, gotta say its been interesting to see how it varies.

As far as intra-workout carbs it really depends on your goals right now. If you're bulking then I see nothing wrong with using intra-workout carbs. In fact, you could pin the slin pre workout as well (although you will need to eliminate the fats in your 1st meal) and have your intra-workout carb drink during you workout. Preworkout slin and said to give nice pumps. Just an idea or something you might want to try out. That being said I wouldn't start off pinning 10iu's of slin preworkout...5iu will be a lot safer and prob all you need. Maybe 5iu preworkou and 5iu pwo. Dextrose and Karbolyn would be a good combo for intra-workout carbs.

Thanks again for the response... Just to update, I took my first insulin pin two days ago. 5iu humalog pen, post workout. I backed down my intra workout carbs to 30g (glyco fuse) and was finished with it about 10 min before I ended my workout. I began sipping my post workout shake (50g karbolyn, 50g whey isolate) on the walk to my car. Got to the car and pinned the insulin in my bicep. Set the timer on my phone and continued to sip my shake. Finished it in roughly five minutes after the shot. Drove home and felt fine the entire time. At the 1.5 hour mark I ate, 8oz white rice and 8oz of chicken breast. Afterwards I started to feel extremely tired, like I needed a nap but obviously did not go to sleep. Also around the 2 hour mark I felt my arms were tight, especially in my bis and tris (I worked shoulders this day). Checked my glucose and it was a little over 100. Around the 4 hour mark I had another shake, 8oz OJ and 25g whey isolate. I ate another meal of 8oz white rice and 8oz chicken at the 5.5 hour mark, still keeping fats out just to be cautious. Since the slin was done being active I continued my night with the rest of my meals which some contained fats. I will say that at no point I felt any bit of going hypo. All in all everything went well. I will continue upping the iu by one each day till I reach ten.

Cool log APM, I feel tired around the 4 hour mark. I use 10ius preworkout, also the reason for injecting into muscle? Faster onset and peak?

Yes, IM injections speed up both onset and peak as well as shortening duration.
