In the package insert of Bromocriptine meds, I read it can be used for treatment of Acromegaly (excessive HGH production). The usual dose is between 20 and 30mg/day and should not exceed 100mg/day.

On the other hand, the studies I've read online show significant increase of GH levels after bromocriptine administration, but these studies use smaller doses around 2.5mg/day.

Can we assume, that at low doses bromo can increase endogenous GH levels in healthy subjects? At the high dose (20mg+) bromocriptine perhaps overstimulates pituitary and subsequently shuts down the GH production?

Anyone have any insight on this, thanks.
