    simple question, tendonosis massage???

I have visited my specialist, and the verdict is suspected tendonosis in my pec major, and also maybe in my supraspinatus. If I massage the pec major hard, will this help matters, or make it worse?

its actually suspected tendonitis OR tendonosis. Gotta wait till the MRI to know for sure, and that could take months. Im not willing to just sit here and wait till then to get on the road to recovery.

I know the treatment protocol for tenonitis and tendonosis are different, but what could I do on a 'neutral' grounding, that could possibly benefit both conditions and not cause harm???

I was thinking massage, heat treatments, ice treatments and strentching, along with high-rep bench press, gradually speeding up the reps (read this in one of the stickies)

Also, would Deca help? I know it would more than likely mask the pain, which is not what Im after, but would the water in the joint actually improve the condition?

Please, anybody with info help me out here, i feel lost

i have read on here that it does matter whether it is tendonosis or tendonitis, but my shoulder specialist acted like it didnt matter for me. my mri said i had tendonosis/bursitis in the supraspinatus tendon among other stuff i dont understand. he gave me a shot of steroid in my shoulder joint, put me on (nsaid) diclofenac sod er 100mg twice a day, and wants me to rehab 3 times a week for a month then a reevaluation of the shoulder to decide if to operate or not.

im on week three of impingement protocol for my shoulder. three days a week i have a 5 min. ultra sound heating of the shoulder, then a hot pack with a 20 min. electric shock treatment before i start the exercises(i control the voltage).

the heat and shock seem to help the most. after the heating and shock treatment i feel very little pain during exercise and no pain during the day.

without the treatments i have more pain during the exercises, have shoulder pain during the day, and have trouble sleeping too.

what seems to work most for me is the nsaids and the heat/shock treatments.

my therapist avoids movements/exercises that cause heavy pain. she said it may hurt alittle but if the pain comes on pretty good to avoid going there. during the first week i had pain trouble and she stopped all exercises for three days and started over from the begining and went slower. i have good days and bad, but for the most part im getting better.

from what i have learned so far, i would say if what you try hurts and causes pain that hangs around during the day to back off or avoid it and try something else.

i hate being down, i cant wait to get back in the game and i know you feel the same.

good luck, i hope things go well for you.

wait until they properly diagnose the condition, the treatment for each are opposites of each other
