Shoulder injury and lifting history
I have lifted regularly for 3 years now.
First time I noticed something in my shoulder was after the first 6 months, then i started to feel something in the right shoulder (this was the first time I really started to go heavy, and it all began.
I did not pay to much attention to it then, because it was the first time I noticed it so it went away pretty quick then..
The next time I really felt it was actually when I had lifted 2 years, so 1,5 years injury free.
So after lifting 2 years, I lifted benchpress 3 times per week, due to the program I was training. Lifted heav.
So it began to ache, pretty badly, right between the outer-upper pec and the shoulder.
So thereon after I was pretty furious of the whole deal, tried to take it slow, but then I lifted heavy to quickly and again I aggrevated the shit out of it..
So after that I had to quit tranining my upper body all together, really messed up my shoulder that time..
And I began getting into lifting again about 4 months after that injury..
And it still pains me alot, cannot go heavy (I only lift dumbells now). Its good when I don't go heavy, but once I do, it sucks real time..
The pain is felt in the outer-upper part of my pecs/deltoid when I go to heavy, and I think I have some biceps tendonitis aswell (because I have pain in my biceps, and there are several biceps movements that hurts in the whole biceps/shoulder area when I do them..)
So I guess i've messed myself pretty badly up, huh..
I can train, but not all biceps excerises and dumbells (light) are the only thing that I can do for my chest... flyes and all that hurts like a bitch.
What do you guys think thats wrong?
I went to a physical therapist a while, and he said that the problem was one of my rotatorcuff muscles the one in the back, near the top of the shoulderblade, dont remember the name... and he massaged me and all that, did not work a bit..
I went to a "osteopat", he is a sports specialist, specializes in sports injury and such.. combined chiropractor and what have you, he said that I had biceps tenodonitis, but did not mention nothing about my rotatorcuff, or the chest/front deltoid, so that sucked... he also mentioned that I had really stiff pectoralials, and that I should strech them everyday.
I am going to try deep tissue massage therapy, because I think with all my reaccuring injuries, there are sertained to be alot of scartissue, that will not heal by itself... so I will give it a shot..Last edited by manwitplans; 01-12-2009 at 09:14 AM.

This actually sounds similar to what I had/have. Shoulder impingement syndrome......GOOGLE it. I went to a doc several times, got MRI and eventually CT scan, got a cortizone shot and within 2 weeks was back in pain. Eventually had surgery and pain went away a little bit. I cannot bench going past elbows parallel with floor. I'm very strict in form now and do as many small rehab exercise that I can do to build up the shoulder muscles. I still have a little bit of pain, but much better than the constant burn I felt in the past.

Shoulder impingement syndrome... this is the first I heard of it but it sounds dead on to what I have been putting up with for well over a year now on and off. I've had chiro work done on it using that machine that shocks you.
It felt better after about 5 weeks of that but when I returned to normal work duties (overhead ladder work for one) right away the pain is back.
I'm now considering highly taking deca to help with it. I never did a steroid cycle in my life other than taking just dbol back in 2003 and gained about 18lbs from it and then pissed off about 7 and kept 10ish.
Feedback?
I'm 6', 170lbs 30yrs and 13% bodyfat. Always been in shape.

this is the exact injury that i have had for the last 8 months, the best advice i can give you is stop benching for at least 2 months, i know its frustrating and you will lose a lot of the strength you have worked hard to build but the more you aggrivate it the worse its gonna get, hit chest from different angles try leaning dips, lying over head d/b pulls, cable flyes. You won't build mass with these but you should be able to maintain while your shouler is mending. I have also been taking hgh @ 5iu/day for past 2 months and it has worked wonders, shoulder feels about 80% now just started benching again starting light (60k) gonna hopefully slowly work my way back up, good luck, i feel your frustration and hope things work out for ya.

There are only a couple of exercises that I found extremely helpful. One is standing at a cable system or using rubber bands, hold arms at side with elbow bent 90 degrees. Pull rubber band across stomach area and then turn around and pull away from stomach area (I can picture this all in my head seriously, just doing a sh!tty job of explaining it).
Next.....grab a dumbell, start out light (30lbs or so), lay flat on the ground, hold the dumbbell up in the air (like at the top of a press), now use only your shoulder muscles to raise your shoulder off the ground (do one side at a time).
After awhile, you start to strengthen the shoulder area good, and then implement a lot of shrugs and rear dealt work. After awhile you'll feel like a million bucks......if all goes well and the impingment isn't all that bad, you won't need surgery. Bottom line, you should probably get it checked out and inquire about a cortizone shot or surgery.

Thank you
A better explanation would be good though, I am not sure what to do
But i'll try to understand it.
I have had cortizone treatment, sucked cock (did'nt feel better at all)... Probably because the doc did not hid / or stuck me in the wrong places...
But I will go to the doc again soon and ask him what to do.. :P
I will also begin with massage therapy, and maybe chiropractic therapy..

I had a similar injury to the front of my rotator cuff when I was about 18 and couldnt hit the weights barely at all. After about 6 months of frustration I started throwing a football around one day and found it didnt hurt. A few week of doing this for hours a day and my shoulder was golden again. I`m not saying it will work but try different things other than weights for sure.
