acne scars help?
Hey guys. I'm 3 month into my doctor prescribed accutane and it is finally starting to work. However, I have a ton of scars from years of cystic acne. Its a lot of dark scars, but not too many pitted scars or holes. There is a few but mostly a lot of darks. I'm thinking of dermabraision or possible an acid peel. Do you guys have amy suggestions that will actually work in order for me to have some confidence this beach season?

I went through the same thing, Accutane that is. As far as scars, I tried every cream out there and nothing seemed to work. Its been about 8 years though and they seem to have healed themselves to a certain point where its not as noticeable anymore. Hopefully theres something out there that works now! best of luck, you getting any sides from Accutane?

Man, no bad sides! Believe it or not. A few guys here talked me into trying it, I was scared, but my dermatologist prescribed it. Monthy BW and all. Lipids have actually decreased while on it. Only noticeable sides are dry lips and nose. Doctor had me at 40 mgs for 2 months, now at 60. Said he would consider upping all the way too 120mgs or so if I needed. I cleared up really good until 2 weeks ago. He put me on cephalexin and predinson and within 5 days, gone again.
My scars however, theyve been around for over ten years. Since I'm getting cleared up, I want to do anything necessary to remove the scars. I want this year to be the year I look forward to taking my shirt off at the pool. Ive never had the confidence, so now its time.

Mine have faded but are still visible very close. I tried a bunch of creams hard to say what helped though. I think time helped the most I hate to say.

I once had a doctor tell me retin a. He used it for his dark scars and over time they completely went away. Personally I have not tried it but he swears it works. He actually was talking ya out of getting lasered and said use retin a. Good luck bud

my teen has serious scaring from acne. I bought my own demonstration machine (for facial pampering) on amazon for 165.00 (i think) and I have been doing my own glysolic 80% acid face peels for like a year now, any way he FINALLY let me do derma and peels on him.
CRAZY GREAT RESULTS for him!
I buy all the same pre and post treatment oils/creams /brushes/ sponges from amazon, that my spa uses... but now instead of paying 125 for a derm and 50.00 for a peel every time, I just spent that on everything up front and only had to restock my acid peel once so far
Follow directions CAREFULLY with the peel and as a neutralizer baking soda with cold tap water works better than ANYTHING on the market... dirt cheep too.
pass on the crystal machines -go for the diamond tips ~ better results less messy no stupid crystals to keep reordering and less moving parts to possibly brake on you
having your own machine is great cuz you can focus as much time as you want on which spots you want

The roller is a dermaroller. It causes microscopic cuts to the skin - the idea is that, with time, it stimulates the skin to repair itself. I have heard of success in treating scars, wrinkles, stretch marks and loose skin, but everyone who said it works also said it took a long time to see results.
For scars, you might try a salicylic acid peel first. Products that contain Vitamin C are also useful.
Microdermabrasion can also help. So can Fraxel treatments.
Quercetin ( as a supplement) might also help, and there is a gel called Mederma.
Another option is silicone scar sheets - you would use these at night (it is like a rubber sheet you wear over the area).

I had a lot of acne on my back about 10 years ago and lots of scarring. Most of the scars have faded out now and I would say the sun and time have helped
