PRP Injections - Who's had them?

Im going to start PRP with my doc, luckily hes one of two guys in my area who can do them, and luckily he writes them off so insurance covers it! Winning!

Anyway, who here has had it done? How long? How many times per week? Did you do PT while on PRP therapy?

Im going to be getting the injections into my shoulder, previously had a rotator cuff tear and im pretty sure the same cuff muscle is torn again, actually im pretty sure i tore it during month 11 of rehab when they had me throwing full speed again.

Generally what I have read on PRP makes it sound like your body's own home brew of HGH as it contains growth factors to stimulate bone and soft tissue growth.

I will most certainly do a log on this and include any PT, Lifting, Throwing (baseball), and AAS or even TB-500 use that i may decide to do.

Any words of advice or any comments are greatly appreciated!

Got a friend who had them for his elbow and he swore by them.

On a related note, the guy I work for plays semipro football and had a damaged PCL and he went to a guy who does a lot of NFL guys he hit the PCL with HGH and the results were prenominal!

I saw the ESPN story on the football player who changed his name to karim abdul jabar, and was a running back who had injections in his knee and it worked as well. I imagine the blood spinning has very similar characteristics.... im not a doctor but from what I have read thats what i get out of it.

I am very interested in how this works out for you. I've been considering it myself but don't know a lot about it.

Injection Number one happened yesterday for me.

They drew about 20-30cc's of my blood. Spun it for 15 minutes and the end results was maybe 5cc's or so.

My doc loaded up the Pin found the spot in my shoulder on the cuff, stuck the needle in and bam!

Gents, this literally felt like hundreds of bee stings at once. It immediately starts the healing process again. No ibuprofen, aspirin or ice to be used on the shoulder. No more than ten minutes after the injection it felt like someone hit me with a hammer (carpenters hammer) right where he injected. Felt like this for about 2-3 hours.

Today i have a small bruise and some tenderness. No immediate healing, this process can take 4-8 weeks on even longer and could need multiple injections.

Going to continue doing bands and scap exercises specifically so I can strengthen the cuff and take advantage of this injection i got.

Also on 100mg Test P/25mg Tren A- EOD. Its my current cycle which i started in line right with this injection.

Doc said not to limit myself, but dont do anything to harm the shoulder. Will stick to raises and perhaps DB Bench from the floor so to not put so much stress on the joint. Will add more soon.

Thanks for sharing squats. I've been wanting to do this for my tendonitus the next time it flares up. If you don't mind me asking how much are the prp treatments? I don't think my benefits are gonna cover it

They are pricey from what I have heard. However ive had the same sports physician since i was 10 years old.... so mine was a $10 copay...

I read online they could cost $250

Third day after the shot now. Shot tenderness is gone.

Started doing bands and scap work. Internal and external rotation for bands. And Is Ts and Ys on a bench lying on my stomach with 3 and 5 pound weights.

PRP IF properly done will do wonders, i got my sarco illiac solid has hell now took 2 prp treatment.

But the idiot for my hip injected into the psoas instead of the y ligament and did nothing.

I am looking into getting more PRP in the D3D4 and hip again.

Noticing a huge difference now. Will probably do an injection to the front of the shoulder into the bicep tendon.

Still no injection to the bicep tendon, however I no longer have pain in the rear of my shoulder joint where the PRP injection was performed. It's been two months since the injection on August 5. I am going to start lifting again. I will be doing basic lifting movements.

Will perform reps with light weights Dumbells. Simple Arnold press and bench press but at a 45 degree as to not put too much stress on shoulder right away. Simple rows. Squats etc.

I literally stopped all lifting. Haven't even had a random pain with a jerky movement of the right arm.

If lifting goes well, PRP will have my approval!

Ive done a number of PRP sessions on ACJ joint and SC joint. To be honest only in the initial first weeks did it feel like it was healing but long term result was no good at all, at least for me. Its important to know that there is no evidence/studies that this actually works.

Why do some patients say its amazing and works well? Perhaps because when you simply inject or poke/injure any joint the body responds by causing a natural inflammatory response and starts a healing process. Just like any scratch, bruise/injury etc...

For me what worked better than PRP was prolotherapy which is basically a glucose liquid mixture that is injected into the joint and causes a natural inflammatory response. My SC joint was severely loose and pops in and out regularly. within the 3rd shot in week 3 it started to feel tighter. I was amazed. But again this is a slow process and certain injuries might need longer treatment. Unfortuntatly for me, I have a connective tissue disorder and when my symptoms got worse the SC joint got worse again. But I know this treatment works for many people.

There is a study in Denmark that is using IGF-1 injected directly into joints for patients with EDS (weak connective tissue) dont know results though.

good luck and let us know how your doing.
