Bicep Distal Rupture.. Can't believe it!

    Guys,

Two days ago, I was doing concentrated preacher curls. Felt good that morning... everything was going well. Just finished up last set with my non-dominant arm before moving to my dominant. Last set, last rep... BOOM! Unbelievable. Full separation of the distal tendon. Going for MRI today and seeing surgeon tomorrow.

Aside from the frustration of going through the surgery, rehabilitation, and restricted movements in everyday life. I am absolutely heartbroken for not being able to hit the gym. If anyone can relate, it's to all the others on this forum. Looking for some positive motivation... really bummed out!

I've had many surgeries and have now been back consistently for about 8+ months! I know what it's like to gonthru deep depression not being able to do the things you want (w/o etc) until pretty recently!

Get it taken care of and listen to your doctor... Find a great specialist and make sure you feel comfortable w/him, too! Do your PT right and go all out as if you were in the gym(don't get ahead of yourself tho - take the necessary time you need!

Keep busy w/any other hobbies - keep your mind fresh and chin up - you'll be back it's just going to test your limits of what your willing to do about it!

Best of luck & keep us updated!

Thanks Nach3, as always I appreciate your feedback and thanks for the encouragement! Glad I didn't start my 2nd cycle yet. Figures, 10 vials showed up in the mail today!! Guess I'll store them in the safe until next year.

Man that sucks. I wish you a fast recovery. I can def relate to being injured and not able to hit the gym its very depressing. You can get some crossover education by working out the other good arm but then you will have a major imbalance issue. Theres a good youtube video that talks about the reason why most tears occur on biceps, lats, and pecs. Its due to the mechanical disadvantage those particular muscles have just due to their physics.

my training partner had this happen to him putting his boat trailer onto his truck hitch...he had the surgery done within a week and was back at the gym doing back within 2 weeks...we did legs a lot during those two weeks...he started out with light back workouts to test the bicept when he felt ready and was curling(lite of course) within like 6 weeks....its been a year and hes back bigger and stronger than ever...so chin up brother...

Nach3.. just read a thread about all your injuries that you've sustained. Did you ever run that TB500? Is it bogus? Read the entire sticky... but not real confident about the positive experiences other than Romans.
