1st contest! pics
OK guys here are some pics of my first contest. It was June 25th. I won my novice weight class which was light heavy and the overall novice. I took 4th in the open. I was no where near where I wanted to be as far as conditioning due to illness the weeks prior to the show. My lower GI shut down on me ugh.... a long story. Flame away I want to hear what was lagging so I can win the open next year, might not be possible but I want to give it a try anyway. I weighed in at 196lbs at 5'8.

looking awesome.. congrats on the contest. Being picky here, but only because your asking for contest purposes: Looks as though you are holding a bit of water? Maybe come in a bit dryer next time. Look great though, keep up the good work.

Looking jacked..and congrats on your comp! As mentioned above, since you asked for feedback, you might have been a bit more cut - though that doesn't seem to have affected your standing! Nice work!

great work.
criticism:
low back
middle back
calves
your nicely proportioned and if it wasn't for the water you would've looked so much better because your skin was thin.
those 3 areas i would tighten up. everything else looks good.

Thanks for the comments guys. Yep the claves need to come up an inch and a half to catch up to the arms. I have only been deadlifting for about a year so the back isnt where it should be but I am convinced that another year of deadlifting will help in that area. I cant figure out why the legs didnt look better on stage I thought they were a strong point?? My taper needs work so if any of you guys have a good routine for lat width throw it my way.

here's what i do, maybe the technique would help.
every workout i vary exercises except for chin ups and deads
chins: i change every 3 weeks, all reps at 8 or below are weighted, all bodyweight chins are 10 to 15. sets range from 4 to 5 and it's always straight sets, 5 sets of 10, 12, or 15 for example. the numbers never change between sets.
deads: i do these year round. i do 3 reps, 5 sets, then move to 2 reps per set for 5 sets, then to 1 rep sets for 8 sets, each phase is 3 weeks. it is key that the weight is the heaviest you can use for 3 reps or 2 or 1. i usually stop at 365 to 385 for 3 and then feel out the lower rep weights. make sure it's weight you feel every rep. this is followed by a 4 week hypertrophy phase with 10 reps, 5 sets, then repeat. the hypertrophy phase can be eliminated and replaced with another exercise to rest the muscles and allow for some growth. i prefer that now that i've been doing deads for 2 straight years.
every week i will then vary the next 2 exercises but i utilize 3 and 5 rep sets for 3 week phases but during these phases these exercises are followed by a high rep exercise to exhaustion.
it's 4 exercises. every phase changes every 3 weeks and rep ranges change to avoid muscle adaptation.
after 3 rep phases come a hypertrophy phase for 4 weeks which is all 12 rep and up sets and drop sets, super sets, etc. this phase is a recovery phase. then the rep ranges move to the low reps again.
the key with this is the heaviest you can do for the rep range.

You looked awesome, But if you need the critique for contest purposes, ok.
Back width, use the doggcrapp method it really works, more upper and middle and
lower back development, especially in the romboid area's, look at some of the pro's pics and you'll see what I mean. Practice your back poses more often I find it really helps alot.
Upper chest needs to come out more, your chest sits a little high but that could be genetics.
Calves like you said, just pound them till you start walking funny or your legs shake uncontrolably after your workout, variations of exercises and set to rep ranges are key to solid calf development.
Sorry for being so brutally honest, but you asked for a honest opinion, bro.
watch the deit more closely and your water intake also your potassium nexttime too.

Proportions look good, you'd look better with more mass.
What test dose are you up to on the bulk cycle?
That being said--mad props for competing at all--it is a task too Somalian for most (myself included).
Keep up the good work and keep us updated..
