    San Jose Championships...

Hey all, well I competed in my 2nd and last contest of the year, I got spanked....lol....back to the drawing board, I'll put on some serious size this year particularly the wheels! But I had a ton of fun, and when I did my posing routine, once again the MC announced that I was a cancer survivor of two years and had been 130 lbs two years previous to this show. I have to tell you no placing or trophy could take the place of the feeling I enjoyed posing to Tim Mcgraws "Live like you were dying". The audience treated me wonderfully and it turned out that one of the sponsors currently has a form of blood cancer. If through this I can share the message of hope....I have won! The first couple of pics are of me and my partner the day before the show, he won the Light-heavy weight open class and once again qualified for the USA's. BTW, he's two day younger than me and will be 49 years old August 4th...not bad for an old duffer, eh?

    Livestong!

damn you filled some eh? how much heavier did you come in this time? you still kept your cuts tho, and looked wicked up there once again. your tris are hangin right off ya in that back double bi, you definately look bigger.regardless of placing you look like you belong in that pack and the competition looks stiff, there are some gigantic guys up there! and no doubt you struck a chord with your story that touched everyone in that place..im not surprised the crowd gave you such a warm reception. big ups again brotha...thats gotta be hard work doin 2 shows so close together like that..but you still came in looking great. and congrats to your training partner as well eh! that guy is a freak, my god.
so whats the plan now..how do you go about bulking from here?

    Hey Tank,

I came in 7lbs heavier, I'm learning a lot about how my body is responding to different manipulations of diet now since the difference of age and going through the illness compared to the last time I competed....many moons ago.
Really appreciate your positive comments and yes indeed, my partner is a freak, and a great guy, greatest attitude to be around! From here we'll go to the USA's with my partner next week, he'll be competing in the light-heavies, then the plan will be to go on a clean bulk, I won't blow my % of bf up over 10%. With my system that's about the way it will go. Train heavier and focus on the compound movements. My body is still pretty much acting like a sponge, as was evident in the fact that I continued to gain size all through my cutting for the shows. I think it just wants to go back to it's old size...this would be good! I'm really excited about a growth phase as I haven't done one since getting back to training seriously. Now the fun really begins! Don't you love training?!!! And btw, no more shows a week apart, really tough mentally and physically. The dehydration is about enough to kill me....lol....also another pic of my partner....the freak!

awesome man...cant wait to see you bulked up(lol, well by your definition anyway..by my definition im sure its what ill still consider ripped, lol but standards vary when your talkin to a powerlifter, not to mention, a powerlifter who is currently snackin on a bowl of chicken wings... lol)..with the size you put on while DIETING, the size you are going to put on during a period of doing everything to foster growth is gonna probably even blow your own mind..the results between those 2 shows alone is scary...you look at least 10 solid lbs heavier to me...anyway, looking forward to watching you grow like a weed man!! hope you kept your old clothes from the days at your biggest..cause if it hasnt already, i gaurentee your wardrobe is runnin out of room to breath fast!
good luck to your bro at the USA's! again, that man is a serious animal.
and keep us posted with your progress man!
    peace

Thanks for the ongoing support Kab, we spoke with him at lunch, a very nice guy, so unassuming. He told us his weight was down to 285lbs...heh...down to 285, jeez, and he was going to be doing some acting. Thanks again Bro,

You know Barkley, people like you and some others here help provide the motivation for some of us. It is people like you who help many of us push through and over come our petty things when we see someone like you do what you have done. Keep it up brother. Thank you for the motivation.

Colossus, thanks bro, it's all about the message of hope and inspiration. We all have that opportunity everday in our training and the way we treat other people. You probably notice how "regular" people are intimidated by the size of us that train....it's always great to see there reaction when they find out how nice we really are!

Livestrong and stay motivated for life!
