I love to deadlift too, gotta be my favorite lift. Why use straps in an underhand overhand grip... I mean I understand that using it that way would give you an unbreakable grip but from my experience using an alternate grip is more then enough to hold the bar, I only use straps for doing heavy reps for the sake of symmetry and my poor calloused hands with an overhand grip lol. When I max I use under/over no straps...

Sorry I'm just curious more then anything thats all. I've never used chalk either but I can definatly see the use in that. Great DL BTW! Whats your max or is that your max?

I simply canīt deadlift as much without straps as I can with! Thatīt the reason. My back is the far most developed bodypart, so my forearms canīt keep up.

    My maximum is about 510-515lbs
    I can rep 330lbs 13-15times.

Wow 515, awesome lift! My major grip problems are from my callouses on my hands, they hurt like hell after a heavy set without straps.

For deadlifts bend your knees alot at the lower position, almost to squat level, keep the bar up against your shins or as close as possible at the bottom of the lift... drive the weight up with your legs while straightening out with your back... but don't forget to DRIVE the weight UP with your LEGS and look straight ahead or even up a little but not down while performing the lift. Keep your rep numbers low IMO like 6-8 reps is enough for this lift. Hope that helps.

Very nice lift bro! And I know what ya mean about straps. Once I get near 500 lbs., I can't hold onto the bar without them if my life depended on it!

That's a very impressive weight and especially at just 19 years of age. Well done! I'm 34 and have just started deadlifting again. My best lift so far is 3 reps with 4 plates each side (396 lbs). I don't use straps or chalk or anything else - just have my belt pretty tight.

I don't feel comfortable lifting it with straps, we're not allowed to use chalk in our gym. NObody's said anything yet you just have to follow the powder trail to me, guess it ain't that big a deal
