    Welcome to the board mate!
Congrats on your decision to take matters into your own hands.
Some advice? Just focus on diet and exercise for the first two years. Taking steroids will increase muscular strength, but not connective tissue strength (ligaments/tendons). I've seen more blokes go down for several months due to injury because muscular strength exceeded connective tissue strength.
So keep the shirt on this summer if you don't want anyone to see the tire, but forget abouut steroids until 2014.
    Good luck!

hey.. thank you for the "welcome". in case i was misunderstood, i am not new to lifting, in 1980 i was lifting to compete but couldnt get past the posing trunks. I've always done physical work and even doing construction, I would come home and lift. My wife couldn't understand how i could work those hours then need to lift, the lifting made it so I could do the work.

Now (and I hate to blame it on age) we changed our diet [cut out meat], and i lost size. Well meat is back in the diet needless to say.

One nutritionist told me that guys our age cant get big anymore. I dont really agree because I have gained size, just not what I want. I talk with one bodybuilder that has a competing and winning buddy that can get "the good stuff", I just dont want to do needles for size. Was told there are good products for getting ripped but that hard cardio and ab work needs to be there too. That has been stepped up, and if I didn't get up at 4am for work I would be doing cardio 2x day. My daughter, a personal trainer, thinks with all the stuff I have gone thru in the past and my various neck, shoulder, toe and restless leg synd. maybe my thyroid isn't working right.... wow this is startn to sound like a downer... sorry. But even so, I lift for life, a gym membership is cheap health insurance.
