Men feel pressure to build perfect bodies "CNN"

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) -- Men are catching up to women in one area. They too are feeling pressure to achieve perfect bodies, and this can lead them down unhealthy paths.

IMHO, I believe men have it harder in this area. Women only really need to become slender to have a model-esque physique. I mean unless your a female fitness model these girls have very little muscle tone. On the other hand males need not only have a low bf% but also must have significant muscle mass to have what society considers a good physique. its much harder to gain muscle then it is to lose fat. I could lose 20 lbs in 2-3 months rather easily. Its impossible to put on 20lbs of 100% muscle in that same time period.

I agree that for men it is much more difficult to achieve that desired body. But with today's sedentary lifestyle (couch potatoes) and 60% of the population obese, I can only hope that the desire to improve ones appearance, and health will spread.

Men for the most part can walka round during thier daily lives un suspecting, but all a man has to see is a pair of legs and flowing hair and they look. and how long they look at you - you know whether they find u appealing or not..
it's hard when you have a lot of expectations to live up too and you may not feel you meet them.
If i have a blemish - someone points it out. If i'm bloated someone points it out.. talk about pressure.
At the gym if it's crowded - men look at you and sometimes its annoying because all yuo can think about is i want to work out, not worry about whether im sweating too much or not.

lol exactly, i guess there is more superficial primping in a daily life of a female since females in general are on display more then males. however whenever i spend a lot of time in the bathroom i just tell my gf "hey your naturally pretty, i have to work at it" she gets a kick out of it. Id imagine that the hair and makeup thing that females go through is a pain. its just so time consuming. my gf has long hair and i swear id understand if she wanted to shave her head lol.

I know men have hair backs and think that we all want six packs - but not every woman is looking for perfection - no one is perfect - wish i could think this for myself too

I think you will see a hot chick with an ugly dude way more often than the other way around as well. You can dupe chicks with money and power. Guys usually care more about looks (at least at first).
