Democratic Plan to End Iraq War

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070309/...ocrats_iraq_38

The Plan will get US out by 2008..Bush says he will veto it, but what I don't understand is..that if he vetos it then he doesn't get the $100bil that the plan authorizes, instead he would get nothing and have to resubmit the funding request (assuming the veto doesn't get overriden with a 2/3s override vote) so it would pretty much seem like he's gotta go along with it

    ???

the dems are doing nothing against the war as I expected. there is a supplement for the war coming up this month and they're to scared to vote against or change it significantly. the republicans are not afraid to vote against or filibuster meaningless non-binding resolutions on the war. yet the senate can't find 41 dems to support a filibuster on the resolution. the house dems have the clear majority and could just vote against the bill or give money to only safely move the troops from Iraq. let bush veto it if he wants.they only thing there planning for this resolution is requirement on troop conditions. this falls right into the republicans accusation of micromanaging the war. the democratic majority has to defund the war or stop pretending it's the anti-war party.

They used the Iraq war to take back Congress, but regardless of their public speeches against it, they know that we can not just cut and run. Thankfully, being a Democrat does not officially make you a liberal.....there are still Democrats walking around with common sense, although I do not think that any of them are members of this forum.

The Dem plan has all troops out by 03/08, and Bush's plan has everyone out by 08/08. Five months is splitting hairs when you take into account that this thing has lasted for six years. What Logan said is correct, the Democrats used the war to take Congress and now they have to deal with it, which everyone with a brain knew in the first place. (ie - everyone but starry-eyed, idiotic liberals)

the democrats in congress are definitely not anti-war. the blank checks for the Afghan War, Iraq War, and Patriot act occurred when the dems controlled the senate. the reason I say they support the war is because many of them voted for it and most of them vote to fund it. It's there war too.

The US is leaving in the next few years, either before bush leaves office or shortly after; and Iraq will be under the control of insurgents and militias (or just insurgents), the last Americans there will be evacuated.

seems like these right-wing types are in denial.

The part found offensive is not your beliefs. It's referring to a group of people as animals.

Regarding to a group of people as "animals" gets you suspended?

This forum is getting a little too G rated. Come on now. You can talk about steroids but god forbid call someone an "animal"

Last I checked "animal" wasn't a curse word....

    Would "mammal" have been better?

Everybody settle down, his post wasn't even offensive. Just call him out in the thread if you don't like what he said...no need to report posts.

I'd gather that at least 50% of the people who populate this area of the site would be inclined to agree with him, btw.
