[QUOTE=***xxx***;3726546]Excuse me if I prefer to drive a vehicle that doesn't look like a god damn shoe. I'll drive what I like...My post was in response to all the people here touting a doomsday scenario where the US goes bankrupt and into another depression and all our quality of lives go down the drain. I'm simply stating I do not see that happening even IF the dollar collapses. I'm advocating that if that were to happen that we'd use the military that we've built with all that money, to TAKE it from someone else, rather than starve and live like shit. Whether or not either scenario would ever happen is purely hypothetical, but I do enjoy speculating on it. I'm not PC, I dont like to often say PC things, in fact I kind of get a rise out of pushing peoples buttons and saying things that are very out of step with the status quo, sheep like thinking. Thats all...

what a laugh. europe and other eastern countries just about invented everything you take for granted today including your way of life. dont turn this into a flaming match as no-one knows the outcome of what could have been.
an advanced modern society capable of finding a multitude of other resources should not have to invade another country just because its low on provisions.we are moving forward not backward. you fought for your independence, you fought for your human rights, but i guess as long as you are ok then f@@k everyone elses rights?

A little out of context, but yes. I truly don’t believe that we as a human race is as progressive (in the sense that you put it) as you'd like to wish/believe it to be. It’s always been survival-of-the-fittest. Its in men’s nature to protect, destroy and conquer and provide a safe haven for our offspring. I’m not saying this is the ideal way to live. Its just what I believe is the true reality of it, and I’m not going to sugar coat it or deny it. Of course I don’t want war, and Id rather have world peace and diplomacy but in the end, yes, Ill kill whomever I have to if it means my life is going to end as I know it. It may be sad and it may be wrong by some people’s pov, but it’s the way it always has been and always will. Just my opinion, that’s it. By the way, bro, I was never flaming you rather calling you out on what I see.

[quote=thegodfather;3726671]Back in the 1930's when the unemployment rate got up to 25% in the USA, lots of people were attracted to socialism and communism. Seems to me that if the USA were to go through another severe economic problem, the same thing would happen.
For a while, the income tax rate for rich people topped out at 90% or so.

i see that that is your opinion, i think its a little sad that when/if we are under a little pressure we could all turn into the savages we once were.
for me the human race has some qualities worth saving, such as the urge to explore, to figure out how our surroundings work and to overcome adversity.
put it this way, if my neighbor had a loaf of bread and i did not, i wouldnt go and kill him for it. i would use my brain and figure out how to get round the problem.
if we adopt this mentality where by we go out and invade other countries arent we as bad hitler and his followers(ok we wouldnt kill 1000's of jews for nothing)?

We're already developing some pretty remarkable technology for alternative energy sources. One company has figured out how use the kinetic energy from waves to power an engine in ships, another has developed bacteria that eat wood waste products and can turn that waste into ethanol... we're not where we need to be but it shouldn't be too long before some of this stuff is more mainstream.
