Denver Cops Do It Again
You give some someone a little power/authority and they will abuse it. These cops are clearly in the wrong. I guess the donut shop was closed.

And all they received were "excessive force complaints". Just goes to show what the men in blue can get away with.

Denver cops do a good job. I live here. My brother and I were talking about this just the other day in the truck. Interesting discussion. That news report doesnt mention that that guy refused to show ID when asked. You are required to show ID upon request by a police officer especially if you are deemed to be interfering with a police stop. Then when they go to arrest him for refusing to show ID he resists arrest.
I dunno. I've had a few interactions with the Denver police and overall I have a favorable impression.
I do want to point out here that a couple years ago, Harvard developed a test to determine subconscious racism in people and tried to get police departments around the country to volunteer to take it. Denver was the only one that did (and it passed as not being racist).

Either way, the officers should not have been hitting and kicking him. It was 2 officers on one small guy. They could have taken control of that situation without physical force in that precise manner. The beatings to the chest and kicks by the bigger officer were uncalled for.

The problem is he's resisting arrest and they are trying to subdue him. He's grabbing onto that bridge fence to keep them from arresting him. The point is that the cops have indicated to him that he is under arrest, if he doesnt comply then they dont know what hes gonna do but it is their responsibility to take him into custody.
BTW, he took a swing at the bigger cop. The guy is grabing the fence with his left arm and punching at the cops with his right. You can see the cop on the right trying to dislodge his arm (he isnt hitting the guy) but the cop on the left is defending himself from the punches the dude threw.

Lol alright man. I must have missed that part about the guy hitting the officers back. If that's TRULY what happened by all means the cops need to take physical force to bring the man down. But from what i saw in that video the guy had no chance and the as stated earlier, the blows to the chest and kicks to the groin were ****ing uncalled for. (if the victim really didn't punch the officers which I didn't see)
I've had my experience in MMA (not much) but enough to know how to take someone down without beating on them with kicks and punches. If anything, taz them, cuff em. Done deal. No hitting or kicks since this is what most officers try NOT to do/avoid.
But hey, I stand by my beliefs. The situation could have been controlled much different. Take the guy down without beating his ass, cuff him, done deal. 2 cops could have managed that shit without punching and kicking.
My 2cents bro. To each their own.Last edited by HawaiianPride.; 08-24-2010 at 09:22 PM.

Yeah I have really mixed feelings about this sort of thing. I've dated two chicks who were cops and their stories about how male officers abuse their authority really piss me off. Most women who become cops seem to want to do it because they want to help people and get criminals. It seems a lot of the guys who do it do it because they think "hey, I think like a criminal, maybe I should be a cop! Id know how they think!". Not only this but especially when you have cops who used to be soldiers. My brother talks about how in Iraq, if there was a tense situation (like a car stop) and another dude came up and started mouthing off they'd tell him to leave once, then bust him in the face and zip cuff him because he could be distracting them from a trap or something. Those guys come back and treat citizens like that because that is their training. Not good. Police are supposed to serve and protect, not beat and intimidate. I see your point and most times I agree, police get way to into their power trip, I just know that in this case, that guy was fighting back when they tried to arrest him.
I wish you could sit down tonight with me and my bro when we do our normal Wednesday night "drink beer and BS", you'd be a welcome addition to the discussion. I'm sure this story will come up because its still in the news here in CO and my brother lives in a neighborhood where the Denver police are all the time.

Yeah, first paragraph pretty much sums up my beliefs on how offers in general like to take action in their own hands rather than do their job respectfully and professionally.
I agree, Wednesday night beer and BS sounds like it would do me some good lol.
