Cablegate and FIFA, recent revelations opened the eyes of the world a little?
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/blogs/talki...m-p152046.html
There is a disconnect in the West between what we've been told about our society and the reality. When a company pulls an image because a senate chairman told them to, when a media commentator attacks a whistle-blowing website because he has become part of the establishment, when an official condemns a media report because it irritated his hosts - that's when we see the gap between the childhood story and the reality. But the spasm of control leaders tried to exert this week is not proof of their strength, it's proof of their fear.
The World Cup and Wikileaks rows are two sides of the same coin. As authorities note how the internet saps their power, the backlash will become more severe. We're entering a pivotal moment in the history of information freedom and transparency. Its resolution will affect the stories we tell the next generation about their society.
Just about everyone is talking about these points now. Even those of you in America that dont care about the World Cup, the point is, corruption had been uncovered by the English press within FIFA and now it's strongly believed, that unveiling that corruption has cost England their World Cup bid. Being punished for expressing the truth via free media? More outrageous in light of Russia being a part of the whole WikiLeaks/CableGate saga, in the whole "Russia is being run by the Mafia", was who beat England in their worldcup bid...well at least it's show that Putin still acts like the KGB thug he thinks he is still. A corruptive state being rewarded by a corruptive sports system, because UK media exposed FIFA for the corruptive body it is.
How do people feel about this? Naturally, the world leaders have condemned this but I think it's because a free media outlet has EXPOSED the corruption and seediness of the political world! I heard that America has allegedly been "spying on Sweden", that Cameron apparantly had pledged that the UK become an "American regime" in return for arms, Russia is practically run by the Mafia, Arab Leaders in the Middle East themselves having grave concern over Irans nuclear program, insulting comments made from other World Leaders against others, so called money laundering between Berlosconi and Putin...I mean the list grows. I find it hillarious that certain world leaders are "appologising" for the leaks. They are obviously running scared.
My only concern is, this will be the first step to certain powers attempting to police and censor the internet.
EDIT: I really wish you Americans wouldnt let Sarah Palin near a mic. She thinks the world should pursue Julian Assange with the same urgency as that of a Taliban militant.Last edited by Flagg; 12-05-2010 at 06:21 PM.

Wow, just wow.
Again, apparantly Middle Eastern leaders are URGING Western leaders to carpet bomb Iran. Gitmo prisoners being used as "bargaining chips". China hacking into Western computer systems since 2002. Again, people in the US senate encouraged to spy on UN states. An alleged "uncensored" Afghanistan Document is doing the rounds.
You know it doesn't surprise me this kind of crap is going on, but now finally at least the people of the world can finally wake up a little. You would imagine that this could cause international conflict, domestic riots...what will happen is fat people obsessed with reality tv shows will gripe a bit, and then just carry on as normal.

Iran is no threat. It isn't even half the threat Saudi Arabia, Israel, America, North Korea, Pakistan, China, Russia are to the world. The Arabs are just afraid of Iran becoming a superpower in the middle east. Their dictators were always afraid of Iran even though Iran has not attacked a single Arab nation.
