The OP presented an article where our 4 five star commanders are asking to release to the public more information about BOTH China's and Russia's wrongdoings.

To give examples of what they are talking about:

As far as China goes:
As Hughinn pointed out... you don't see much bad news in the media about them but...
They have millions of Muslims in detention camps.

As far as Russia goes:
They recently (and probably still are) conducted the largest ever hacking attack in the world's history and our President wouldn't even publicly blame them.
They also interfered in out elections. (Iran to a lesser extent also did the same. China to a lesser extent also did the same.)



Now...
The article addresses BOTH China and Russia.
People attacking just China are treating Russia as a friend. Which they definitely are not.

I think most of us were raised to be courteous and act honorably.
You'll witness it throughout all walks of life, our military, our intelligence community or in the civilian part of life; it's just whether or not people choose to follow that path.

Like you, I hope our agencies have enough drive and commitment to do the job at hand. Most importantly, I hope they aren't legislated or put under constraints that would prevent them from being successful.

But he is correct. Any info needs to be weighed as "who benefits most from the release of this information" and then tempered with a lot of cautious examination as it relates to geopolitics and domestic backlash/fallout.
