Any old guys or girls compete?
I was wondering if any fellow 30+ year olds compete in power lifting events? I am thinking about doing a competition in April in AZ. I have a friend who just started competing in a bench power lifting event and he won. He has been harassing me to join him and I am still not sure. I just wanted to see if any of your guys had any experiences with it. He thinks I could actually do well so it is crossing my mind. I am 33 years old and can hit 360lbs raw on bench right now. During last July, I was hitting 405lbs for 3 reps but I had to stop lifting for three months and lost much of my strength. I think I would need to lose about a good 20 pounds in order to compete successfully at the 270lbs weight class and get my bench back up to 405lbs by April. I am just curious for any ideas out there… thanks.

I do! I'm 30, squatting 400, bpressing near 250 and deadlifting over 360lbs at 123-125lbs... so, age means nothing!
a wonderful sport! Go for it. you won't regret it!
