    New guy at 49

    Hi

Posting for the first time. I was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction so I can find info on whether or not to go forward with my first cycle of testosterone .

I'm 49. I've always been a pretty steady gymn rat. A little running, a little lifting. I always got results quick. I had surgery about 5 years ago on both knees. Just never got back into it. Now I'm about 25 lbs over where I want to be, but more importantly by BF is way over my comfort zone.

Here's the thing. In 7 weeks at the gym, I've shown little improvement. I mean, I'm better, but because I used to change pretty quickly, I'm just impatient I guess. My wife says I'm old and thats the way it is, just get used to it. I had my test checked and its below normal, but not enough below normal to warrent injection. Androgel did squat.

My sex drive is also almost non existant, I get the blues pretty often. Kinda all the symptoms of text book andropause .

I've begun to research injecting test pro. I think this would be appropriate because its seems to be easier to get off if there are problems. I realize there are issues with gyno, etc and have researched the approriate drugs for that (arimidex , etc). But this is all new to me and I just want to make sure I cover all the bases. The injections are a bit worrisome, but I really don't get bothered by injections in general. I was on HGH for a while, but those pins were short and ridiculously inoffensive.

    Really my questions are:
What sites do you recommend I read? I need info on dosage, scheduling, arimidex inof or other options.

Is 49 years of age just a bit too old to begin messing with this stuff? I've got HBP, but its controlled with pills. ANy problems with test? I've also kicked around the idea of using clen in order to loose a few more pounds. I used ECA stack for a few years and loved that. Its just been so much more difficult to shed fat now than it was a decade ago. I like food and I understand that my foodie interest will effect my waist a bit. I'm ok with that. I just want to improve.

I realize I know squat about this stuff, but I would like to know more. I just don't want to miss out on any good info thats out there. I just can't accept the "youre old, buy some walking shoes and just get healthy" stuff. Not yet.
I still want to LOOK GOOD as well as get healthier. Is this a pipe dream?

I really appreciate any info you guys can give me, especially from someone who was in my shoes. Thanks again.

Welcome, I breifly read over your thread......I'm in a hurry here!! But, no it's not to late to start, I'm 49 as well and doing great.
I would suggest going to a Dr. and getting a full blood panel, it sounds like you're lacking test. If you are then you can have your test and eat to.....legally.

Welcome Back! Feels good dont it! Reading over your post the biggest thing that jumped out at me was your time back at the gym. 7 weeks back in to a workout is what I got. If this is correct, I think you need ta give yourself more time back. I know, I know its hard. The mind says im here and body says not yet.
Im 47 and have been back for over a year now. When i say im back, i mean 5 days hard at the gym with 20 min cardio per day, supplements in place, making sure i get 2 grams protein per pound of weight, and strict diet! At our age, the diet is king!!
Had blood work done about 3 months into my come back and found my test was low like many of us (234 total). Got doc to put me on 150 mg cipanate per week. That has really helped me get back ta fourm. Now I have decided to do a bulking cycle(500mg cip/300mg deca per week for 15 weeks) and then just cruise on 200 mg a week after that.
I guess my point is, yes you need ta get on some kind of HRT. Change docs 3 or 4 times if needed. But give the gym a little longer as well. Get your base setup and then you can start building again!
All the gym, supplements and AS in the world cant help if you dont diet. Bottom line!

Glad ta see ya fightin tha good fight! Hang in there bro!

Welcome new guy! Listen I read your post and totally get you.Im 47 but I feel great.Yes of course you dont feel good and arent getting results in the gym your hormone level is in the basement along with your sex drive. Simply put as we age our free test drops(usable test)so we have to replace it.This is hormone or testosterone replacement .You did a blood test and its low but the doc wont prescribe injection (which is what you need)!!! FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR!!!.Im not kidding your not a kid looking to get big you just want to feel and look a little better. Here is one important thing to tell the do,your libido is in the dirt and your tired all the time.DO NOT say I want to put on some muscle it is against the law for him to prescribe test for cosmetic reasons.A touchy subject for another day.Ps You are not old and the biggest problem my friends have on test is that there wives are like what the fk you want it again, lol.Hpoe ths helps a little.

First off, don't let anybody tell you that you are old. It's different now, we are all healthier, thus we live longer!
As for the comeback, diet and cardio is the key. I'm 45 and I was really shocked at how long it took for the weight to come off, I started out at 253 and am now at 219. I still have a ways to go.
You have to train smarter then you ever have, tell me one thing, are you pushing yourself as hard as you should?
I'm not trying to be a dick, but it's real easy to get into a pattern and not realize it?

Thanks for the nice welcome everyone.

I've spent the weekend reading around here trying to piece it together.

I've been to three docs so far. Androgel is it, nothing else. I think its because they see, even me being a slob, that I had hit the gym in my younger days. I think they thinks its because I want to throw on muscle. I want to feel better and get leaner.

Am I hitting it as hard as I can? Uhm.....no. Thats always been my downfall with injury. I lift to heavy, I run too much. Get hurt. Slack off. Wife tells me I'm an idiot. It just happens all the time. So I'm REALLY trying to find that effort where I am sore the next day, but where I don't hurt myself. The heavy heavy weights are done for me. Its just not worth it. But I work hard, fast and don't mess around, talk, read, bull....I do my stuff and get out.
But, no I don't push my self to the breaking point. I was wondering if that was the problem, so that was a good question. I really don't know if I'm being judicious or lazy.

Thanks again every one. I'm kinda down of docs right now. I think I'm gonna try to find someone who know where to get test. Its just easier. I tried docs.

Welcome gabagool. One of the things that I would do is to try to get off the blood pressure tablets. Getting your weight down and getting fitter is the way to go! Exercising should raise your natural test level slightly as well. At least you are trying that at the moment.

I suspect your diet is shite and that is the reason for your predicament. Get that sorted and you are half way there.

Don't forget that roids do tend to raise the blood pressure when you are on them.

At work people think I am mad as I refuse to eat doughnuts and cheesy bread and all the other sorts of shite they all eat and drink.

Good luck and don't forget that things will happen a lot slower now ..... so be patient. Set yourself small achevable targets andgo for it!! Use the mirror and your belt notches to judge how you are doing and not the scales.

Takes more time for sure as you age, but looking for a quick fix...it doesn't exist, you have some health issues that need to be taken care of, high blood pressure and weight go hand in hand and to try any AAS would only make things worse. Good Luck and be patient. If your diet is correct and you do the right things in the gym the changes will come. TRT is definitely something that should be used if your numbers are low, but they are just numbers, how you feel is more important. Have you told your Doctor about your libido and your depression? If you have and the Dr is unwilling to work with you then keep searching till you find one that will.Once you get back to feeling healthy remember how important it is to continue to do the right things, age is just a number you'll find many older members on this board with a wealth of great advice. Don't give up...its worth all the effort for sure.

Hey dude - am 49 too and here's my 2cents. The diet thing is THE most important factor for loosing the BF and getting the BF to 12-15% is going to make you look and feel good. The gear def won't help w/ that. The BP is a big deal too 'cause in my experience the gear will raise that slightly - be prepared for that - talk to your doc, etc. If you doc is an asshole and won't give you HRT go to someone else - try the 24 hr clinics in the yellow pages - they don't take insurance but aren't limited by the ins companies as to what they can prescribe.

Apart from that, a cycle of test and a maintenance level of test as HRT will change your life! Brings back a lot of strength, feelings of "well being" and nice boners in the am! LOL Only prob will be if your wife is 50 also and doesn't want to do the nasty so often - then you'll have to invest in a little lube and porn!

IMO it's def worth the investment. But you HAVE TO DO YOUR RESEARCH first and set up a plan so you do it right - otherwise it will just shut off what test production you do have and you'll get fatter.

    Thank you chap.

I'll keep looking for a doc for a test script. You all are right. I have good insurance, why not use it.

Until that happens, I ordered some ECA, I think its called ECA ExTREME. It has 25mg Ephedra extract. I'm starting off with 1 pill four times a day. While I get a bit fired up, I don't get the rush I did when I did ECA for a year on and off in 2000. It was legal then, I forgot the name of the brand I took. But I had worked up to 75 mg four times a day. But I remember sweating like I was on my first date and couldn't pee for crap. I'm not getting this now. I'm wondering if 25mg of EPHEDRA EXTRACT is misleading somehow. I know its the alkaloids that count, and I can't find that.

Is there a stack you guys recommend? Vasopro or Hcl? I've read some guys taking primatine and stuff like that. Thanks again for the welcomes and I appreciate any info at all.

You all have a good night.
