I just keep going and going and going......

Greetings to all my MASTER class bros! Just pinned myself for week 5 of my current cycle. Things going good so far. Eating like a horse, but its all good stuff(dam I hate tuna) and Im faithful to my cardio everyday.

My ? is, do you think at my age (47) it would be ok to train muscle groups twice a week? I know the muscle are rebuilding faster, but what about these ole ligaments and tendons.
I have so much energy now that after Ive completed my workout and cardio, I want to go grap up the weights and go again!

Let me here from ya guys!

i would definetly not overdo it right away.you need to give your tendons and ligament ample time to get used to the heavyer weights that you will be using.i would work into it slowly but if you are recovering and feel like you can go with a mucle group again then i dont see why you couldent. i would just caution u that you can still overtrain even on aas i belive.remember we grow while at rest so ample rest is just as important as working out.hope all is well with you and good luck my friend.

this is a common mistake even young people make. they tend to over train when on the juice. Even when on the juice rest is a very important part of your progress.
I personally train onr bady part a day. 5 days a week.
here is an example but it may vary from week to week but it still comes out the same.
    Monday - leggs
    tue - chest
    wed - shoulders
    thursday - arms
    fri - back
    rest sat and sun

I would consider what you're doing as overtraining too. I would throw a day or two of rest in the middle of the week. 5 days on and 2 off is hard on the CNS. I've done it too. Maybe try a more efficient 4 day split, and it gives you an extra days rest. How about a push/pull routine:
    1. back and bi's
    2. shoulders and tri's
    3. chest
    4. legs
I do something like the above, with 2 days on and 1 day off, and then next week 3 on and 1 off, but I never do weights 4 days in a row. Food for thought.
    Peace.

It really all depends on the volume and intensity of your workouts. Once a week works best for me.

Hey thanks guys for all the good input. I think I new the answer, but that little voice inside me said keep going, keep going!

AS for the work out, since i started the cycle, I have droped the 4 sets of 10 ta 12 reps for a more aggressive 5 x 5 routine. Weight has gone up alot and have a new (and bigger ) workout partner. Please understand it takes me 2 sometime 3 warmup sets on each movement just to get the tendons warmed up. Very carefull to warm up lite, and see how the elbows feel, the start my increase until Im at my target weight. THen I start my routine.

I have to admit, It feels really good to hear those 6 45lb plates jingle together when were benchin. Seems like you enter a different "level" at most gyms when you start reppin 315. Even the "BIG" boys will knod and grin.

Dont worry guys, keepin it all real. BUT DANG its good ta be back!

Great post....just reading your enthusiasm was motivational enough to make one want to run out and move some heavy iron!

And I know the feeling.....you feel as if you can train a bodypart two, maybe three times a week... I know that I feel that way as well! But I also know that the muscles grow outside of the gym, and as I have gotten older I can feel that the rest period is essential, and the muscles respond in kind when they get that breather. Even when on AAS, recuperation is still very important.

    In any case, well done!!

I'm currently mixing in bi's with back, tri's with chest, then hitting them again on arm day and it's working well. But i only work chest, back and legs once a week.
    Good luck man.
