46 and just starting out again..NEED ADVISE..

Im turning 46 and have been back in the gym now for about four months. The results seem to come so slowly it can become a little depressing to tell you the truth and I have no knowlage at all with respect to steroids , test,or HGH. So I guess Im asking for your professional opinions on the differences between them all. I would like to start my first cycle to get over this hump and put on so reak muscle mass and gain some serious strenght. I am 46 years old 208 lbs and 5 10' and i believe by my scale my body fat to be 28.5 %. I work out 3 to 4 times a week but again the results are so so slow. I have heard that HGH injections are the best, refered to as the fountain of youth somtimes, but Im not sure this is correct as well aparently it is also said to be good for your joints and repairing old injuries.
I know nothing about how much, how long or what would be the best for me to start with at this piont this is why Im seeking your guys professional opinions as Im sure you have seen this or been asked this often before.
I should also mention that I would like somthing thats not bad for the kidneys if at all possible
Feel free to e mail me directly if thats better for you as Im seriously looking for the best possible plan for this first time trying it.
    Thanx..

TSM, welcome to AR. The best place to start IMO would be in our HRT forum. I am right there with you, as I am 45. I have been on doctor monitored HRT for over 3 years now. Jumping into a cycle would not be the route to go. I would (If I were you), get with your doctor, run a complete set of labs (refer to the sticky in the HRT forum: Finding a HRT Doctor).

As you get your blood work put together and figured out, you need to put a plan together for your diet and exercise program. No form of hormone treatment is going to be the complete answer for you if you don't get this on track. It doesn't mean that you have to become a full-time gym rat, or eat broccoli all day, it just means you need to get some things cleaned up and balanced so that your body can start working for homeostasis.

You're in the right place to learn! This isn't a quick fix, and there will be many steps to get all of this in order. Please, invest a little time here, and go through the different forums to get educated. We have way too many guys that make just one post then bail. Don't know if it's because they just want some quick answer or solution, or because it does take a little work, time and dedication to really get all of this put together.

Do it right the first time, being right now, and your friends and family probably won't recognize you by Christmas time!

TSM agreed with all vetteman08 has said. I am 46 and started training 2 years ago when I was 282lbs. I came to this site just like you looking to get some steroids and I thought in 6 months I'd be all set. I have found that there is so much more to this site. Reading other members threads and the stickies you can pick up alot of help. Nutrition is key so that is something you really want to look at. If you read through the threads in the nutrition section you can will find great tips and you can put a post there for help with your diet. Good luck.

    Mate,
A little advice from someone a little older than you. You are not ready, and for good reason. The older you get, the weaker your connective tissue becomes (tendons/ligaments). Sure, you could start a cycle, muscles respond just like when you were a kid. Connective tissue takes a long time to strengthen, and is very slow to issue warnings before failure (pain). On cycle now, you will see decent gains, muscular strength will explode, and then, without warning, "POP", you'll damage a tendon or ligament. And then you'll be 6 months in rehab. This is from personal experience! Connective tissue strength always lags muscular strength. Give it a year in the gym, maybe 18 months. let your connective tissue get stronger before you begin to think aas.

why would you throw a blower on an engine with 150,000 original miles on it? wouldn't you want to go through it and make sure the rings, valves, bearings and gaskets can handle it first?

    Good luck!

Come on over to the HRT section. Get some blood work done and the guys can help you get dialed in if needed. Like yourself I started back at the gym 6 years ago at 44 I'm now 51 and in better shape than i was in my 40's took time consistency and a solid diet.

I agree with what you have been told. I am now 57 and pushing weighs since age 24. I never used anything before age 50. The thing is I was injured, I followed my doctors advice, I knew 30 years had strengthened my bones and ligaments, and I later decided to move to a country where I can buy what I want legally! Result, other that motor bike injuries I am stronger, than ever and happy. My mates have all been lifting for lifetimes, I see a few of them here on holidays and taking advantage of the laws. Age is experience! We can grow older better, politicians age badly, legislate badly and think badly. Our life styles promote health and well being. enjoy every minute of every day! Have fun and good luck.
