Fighting the Flab and low T

Hello eyeryone, I'm Jeff. 6-1" 290lbs. and have decided to share my progress of fat loss, cardio, lifting, and total testosterone levels , currently 340 ng/dl. With anyone who would listen with hopes of encouragment and advice. Due to a loss of libido and some muscle mass I thought I would get my test. checked and see what was going on. Doc said I'm fine at 340 ng/dl / 41yrs old and a low level would be under 280. Well at first I wasnt too happy with him but hey hes the doc right. And do I really wanna be on HRT and shut down the gonads for good? I decided to be honest with myself and look at all the factors effecting my testosterone . Make some changes and get it checked again. So now with hours of reading behind me I know that weight is a big factor so gotta lose some, rest is a big factor and I average 5 hrs a nite so that needs to change. And lastly, my can have an effect on it so no more tramadol for me. As for training I am gonna keep it simple. Treadmill and dumbells. fast paced walk for 5 min. hop off do 10-15 push-ups, 10-15 squats (with the help of a ski rope I nailed to the wall) curls, lat raises, and whatever else I fell like doing that day. Then right back on treadmill. repeat 3 x with a total time of at least 20 min on treadmill . 3 or 4 weeks of this and I'll see how I feel and what I want to do as far as training gos . the main goal is weight loss. Comments welcome

Almost all medical doctors are idiots when it comes to TRT they are ignorent, its very frustrating, you are defenitly low, and need to get on a TRT protocol, of at least 100mg per week. Look into T3 its awsome to lose weight i shedded a lot and combined with Testererone its the bomb.

I am 40 too and weight loss is not what it used to be T3 makes it a lot better i am training with the adonis effect program its very good too and since i am injured with back pain its a good rehab program too, not selling it or anything just saying.

Vitamine D3, and saturated fats like coconut oil red meat eggs can boost T level too, naturally if you want to try this before TRT but at 340 its pretty low usually the medical doctor i seen consider 400 to be low.

I would like to do a cycle and see what results I get, Ive never done anything really. I was always a easy gainer. hit the weights and 2 weeks later i felt like I had blown up like a ballon. Big legs and traps, decent arms, chest was always a problem and never seen my abs, Im a endomorph that responds real well to weight training. Ive never taken creatine, dont do protien shakes. I really dont think any over the counter stuff works. I had a buddy of mine who had to do a little time and he got huge in four years. His supplements were bologna and honey buns. I do experiment regularly with ECA and the only thing that dont put me to sleep is the bronkaid and I have to cycle it. my body gets use to it in a week and stops working. and it really dont help much in the weight loss arena. I am a big beliver in fasting. about 16 hrs into a fast I feel great but 24 hrs is my limit it seems. I do need to find a good doctor that wants to help. Ive been thinking about going and just tellin em , Hey Im gonna do something about my lowT with or without you so help me out here with some blood tests and what not. I would like to get in a little better shape and do a cycle as opposed to getting on HRT right away. I was thinkin that I could get my T up naturally with a bit of weight loss and getting off the tramadol. Ill put a cpl of pics up this afternoon

I do the fasting too sometimes between 14-16 hours works good T3 is quite amazing for weight loss being 40 and abused ECA when i was younger i can no longer take any stimulante. A cycle will not make you lose weight btw diet and exercise will.

    Hi Mate,
    Start with this.
Spend the first 30- 40 mins of your workout doing high intensity weights and interval cardio. After which time move to lower intensity cardio at 135 bpm for the remaining 30 to 40 mins. The intense part will sufficiently deplete muscle glycogen so that when you do lower intensity cardio the body has to look for another energy source, and the lower intensity allows the body time to access fat as a source of fuel. You must keep your energy-yielding carbs low in the meals leading up to your workout. If you put too many carbs in then your muscle glycogen stores will be too full and your entire workout will be fueled by the carbs.

Welcome to AR. I would suggest getting involved with our HRT forum for starters. Please post your stats if you don't mind so we know a little more about you, and have a better understanding where you should be.

You are dealing with the wrong type of doctor if you want to get your hormones balanced. You will need to make a change to a clinic and/or a HRT specialist if you ever want to get that on the right track. Just know, testosterone isn't the only variable here. You have a multitude of hormones; upstream and downstream that need monitoring. In the HRT forum, please refer to Kelkel's sticky about "Finding a TRT physician". Plenty of information regarding labs and what you should be looking for.

I don't mean to be harsh, but your mentioning of "fasting" just shows that you need a lot of education here (or somewhere, but hopefully here). The real question is, are you committed to see this thing through? That doesn't mean a few posts here, and maybe reading a few threads, and wah-lah, you're in business! Sorry, but I mean the commitment of spending as much time on here learning the ropes about HRT, medications, protocols, diet, exercise, etc.

It's in your corner how far you want to go to get this optimized!

    Please read what Vette posted.

With your age and testosterone levels and presented with symptoms my Doc would have you on a TRT protocol.

Here's a thread I started in the HRT forum about how to raise testosterone levels naturally, you may be interested in this:

I am turning 40 next month and found out last week that my Testosterone level was 354. The Doc told me it was within range which I knew was not right since I felt sluggish and had all the other symptoms of low T. I went through the same thing with one source saying levels were fine and then others truly in the field said I needed to do something asap.

I started my program last week of Testosterone (300 mg per week) and I am also taking hgh to recover from a laundry list of injuries. Specifically I am going with

    Testosterone Cypionate
    Anastrozole
    HCG
    Clomiphene (Post Test Phase)

Pen looks like you are getting great advice and I'll be on here as well seeing how we are all doing and posting some progress myself.

MyteeJ - Come on over to the HRT forum and read the stickies and hang out for a bit...you'll learn much.

BTW, 300mg of Test per week is not a standard TRT dosage; are you under a Doctor's care?
