TRT or mild AS for first cycle?

I'm 42, 5'9" 200 lbs with avg build. I am active in hockey, compete in triathlons and half marathons but at this point don't hit the gym as regularly as I should or have in the past. I'm just an average joe.

My ligs and tendons are good and when I cycle I know I won't kill it to the point of tearing anything....I hope.

Question I have is, should I start with TRT or a mild AS like anavar ?

Never cylcled before so have no experience - please excuse the ignorance.
    Thanks

Have you had your serum testosterone checked lately to see where you're at?

What's your goal in using TRT or AAS?

Hi fulldawg and welcome to the forum. First and foremost you should start with complete blood work to include a full hormone panel. Visit the TRT Forum and at the top are threads that don't move called "stickies." In the Finding A Doc sticky is an example of proper blood work. You're at the age where this is important. Especially if you choose to cycle anything because you need to know where you levels are so you can successfully return to them after pct.

When it comes to anavar alone? No. Yes, it's mild but it's still suppressive of your HPTA and will adversely effect your natural test production. Basically it's not testosterone . Only test is test.

Seriously consider the blood work as your smartest, first step in this process. There are also simple OTC supps you can take to help maintain / increase your own testosterone levels such as Vit D, DHEA and Pregnenolone which would help as well.

My goals are to cut the mid-section fat, pack on about 10 lbs of lean upper body muscle (legs are good from ice hockey) and balance out my 'figure' so to speak - proportionately.

MuscleInk and KelKel - thanks for the advise on bloodwork. I will get that done then come back to this forum to discuss more. Thanks again!

In the meantime, visit the Nutrition Forum here and let the vets there help you. Basically free advice from nutritionists. Doesn't get much better than that....

Welcome to the site. I think everyone over 36 should go to the TRT doc and get blood work done and get a script for testosterone . Even if you bump up the amounts compared to what is prescribed it would probably be very beneficial if you ever got caught to have a script for testosterone in the house. Its just my opinion. Good luck.
