It's always been the same with me - for some reason i can motivate the bar more when it's hanging by my knees than when I can when the bar is dead - I just can't get it moving quick enough from the floor. It's possibly down to technique and maybe I'm not quick enough at transefering my hips through when pulling from the floor. I dunno

****, my hang clean is way higher than my power clean. I didnt know that your power clean was suppose to be higher. I dont no what it could be maybe the technique im guessing.

Crazy ass stats. My clean was only 225lbs, and I only did that one time in my basement. Now I can maybe pop out 185 for reps...maybe 205 of I push it.
Those are some crazy numbers though...

im not going to give my numbers, because I dont do that, I come here to learn not to compete. However, I will say that I hang clean just as much as I power clean. I have trained with guys who could clean 405 for reps. Several of them are in the NFL now.

I did 315 when I was 19 and haven't done them since. I think I'm probably too bulky to be any good at them now.

Max hang clean is 365. I also hang clean more than power clean for some reason. But I am more concerned with hang cleans so that may be why. I'm about 6 foot 210.

When it comes to hang cleans form is everything. Once you perfect your form....you can easily add 50 lbs. to your lift. Several years ago when I was still playing football in college I was able to hang clean into the 400s. That was at a bodywt. of about 235. I stopped doing them when I got into powerlifting. Deadlifts seemed to replace hange cleans. The secret is the distance you have to move the bar and speed at which you can drop under neith it. That's why they say it developes explosive speed. Most people try to muscle all the wt. up and that's not how you should do a hang clean. you should only have to pull the wt. to about (below chest level) As the same time the wt. is being driving up you are dropping under under the wt. and front squat the wt. up. Same w/ power cleans. Clean up your form and you'll be surprised how much you can do.

max hang clean for me was 235 weighing 132lbs, i have gotten 225 for a triple though in the hang clean. best clean is 275 at 152lbs.
here are some big cleans, but these are full squat cleans from the floor, he is doing close to 500lbs weighing 185lbs, he also does a 400 snatch whicjh is pretty amazing.
