    back injuries

ouch. I readjusted my grip during a set of deads and I f'd my back up. It's definitelty muscular, not structural. I was wanting to get some feedback from others who have done this and how much down time they have suffered. I don't even feel like doing bench tonight.
Also, any advice on how to speed recovery would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Thanks. man it's hard to stay out of the gym but I know it's what's best. I guess the idea is that if you work out a different muscle, say chest, you're taxing that which heals muscles. Is that the right idea? Just the same, thanks for the advice, I'm going to the store now to buy a bag of ice.

Just get a big bag of frozen peas...fully malleable, no mess, reusable. Just don't open it up .

Had a patient do that on me once...she came in to the office and said the peas worked great but she had a tough time keeping them on her leg.

just make sure you know that it is muscular and not structural, i thought the same thing and come to find out its bulging disk in between my L4 and L5 only the MRI showed, the xrays said nothing structural so be ABSOLUTELY sure before you mess yourself up permanently.

If you get a bulging disk, is it possible to get back into lifting?

yes it is possible with a bulge to lift again, when the inflamation subsides the pressure on the nerve root would decrease and you wouldnt feel pain, only thingis once you injure a disc it is more prone to be re-injured. it also depaends on how sever the injury is, put i know alot of plifters who have made comebacks with herniations, bulges or even fusions of the vertebrae
