Doc's avatar
That avatar is sweet. I wish I had some sort of creative skill like that. AND DAMN CAN YOU PULL. I got a woody when I stood up with over 600 on the bar, what's that you got on your avatar, bout 725?
Did I mention that I pulled 700 off a rack recently? It was 4-6 inches from lockout at the start, so that is a bit pathetic. I call it the Mike Miller deadlift.

I've never heard of Miller bench of DL. So he's in the 2500's for a total?
See, the thing is that they should do height classes for the deadlift instead of wt classes. It seems taller folks have an unreal advantage on the pull. My BBing buddy never deadlifts and he pulled 525 without ever having done even a single hyper extention. He says his lower back gets enough development from carrying dbs around for other lifts. He's 6'5 and 245lbs..
One of my all time goals is to get into the 900's on the DL by the time I'm 30. I don't know how possible that is, but I've been kickin @SS lately on my imporvement. Hopefully break that 2.25X**ywt barrier in competition soon. I can't wait to be out of undergrad and be able to focus all my resources toward PLing.

i know alot of short peoplewho can pull, i thin it comes down to arm lengths, i have long arms and that is what givesme an advantage in that deadlift, taller people in general have longer arms.
keep shooting for heavier weights velkar, anything is possible

You are probably dead on with the arm length statement. My arms are 2 inches shorter than my brother's and he's 2inches shorter than I am. I don't think that is conducive of big pulls. The more that I think about the physics of the deadlift, it seems longer arms allow the center of mass of the bar rise closer to the lifter's center of mass, which is probably the root to the advantage of long arms.
