Thumbs up Started Doc's 3x3 plan today.

Hello everyone, this is my first post, but I have been reading this site for some time. I am pretty new to powerlifting. The last month or so I have been doing a once a week (3 days a week, one lift). I have always been an endurance/triathlete type person. But I've always been very interested in Power and strength, and I think it's time to get some.

I saw the 3x3 and it looked pretty good, I like the idea of working those lifts 3 times a week. And am always suprised that I never see anyone doing deadlifts or squats. I really like those deadlifts .

Anyways, I started the 3x3 today, and it felt pretty good. I realize it is a friday, but my schedule is always different so I think it will eventually pan out.

A few things I noticed already:

-I had to go a lot lighter on the squat than I thought, I'm really working on form. But I think I will make significant progress there. Thought I would start at 140 (58%) but it didn't feel right, so I tried 125 and it felt better. I will adjust accordingly.

-I tried sumo style deadlifts for the first time today, and I liked them a lot. I will probably still mix it up a bit, but they felt good. I think it helped since I have a pretty long torso. Still this is by far my best lift.

    - My bench is feeling pretty good. I think I will make great improvements.

So I'll keep you up to date.

    My current numbers:

    Squat: 225
    Bench : 225
    Deadlift: 280

I rounded up for the %'s so my bench will be 240, Squat 240 (hopefully), Deadlift 300.

I'm also 6'1 210lbs, I'm working on getting down to under 200, I'm joining the military and need to be lighter, though my body fat has gone down a lot in the last couple months and that is fine too. Eventually I think I'll be in the 220 range.

Thanks for the workout, I like the simplicity and the challenge, plus it's great knowing exactly what you're doing everyday.

    Cheers,

    Tim

    Thanks man,

    I will also add:

As far a supplements, Whey Protein, Creatine Monohydrate, Glutamine and Multi (Now Adam)

I'm also doing pullups every workout, mostly because I need them for military.

And also doing ab work daily. Mostly for the military, but I also have a 6 pack right under the layer of fat, would be nice to see it.

Doing cardio 5 times a week and going raw on all lifts.

    I will keep you updated.

    Cheers.

    Tim
