anybody know a website to answer this

for the 198lbs weight class, what is a good weight to bench if u wanted to try competeing just for fun... and raw benching, no equipment or juice...

my numbers i'm assuming are my numbers are good for your avg lifter but low for a meet...

195lbs.... raw bench 415lbs-435lbs depending on the month since i'm still fighting with getting a good workout plan for my body it goes up and down alittle

I do use a pause when maxing.. only because i think bouncing is cheating..

but RJ and DOC.. u might have seen my comment in another post i put my pinkie on the little ring when benching, not index finger... somebody wrote that is an illegal lift.. is that true?

the way i do a max is... pinkie on the ring of the bar... butt on the bench never to come off, and feet on floor also not to move, with the bar making a complete stop of motion on the chest before being pushed up..

i live in orlando florida and when i look at local meets and seem to always see numbers in the 500's for the around 200 weight classes. i was warned they might be open style meets, anything goes (8ply shirts, juice ...ect.)

thats what made me come forward with my question.. but thank you for all that gave me a push to try and attempt some stuff..

your technique is fine... in competition you can't press any wider than index fingers on the rings.

by the way i was born in Orlando, FL... and currently reside in Cape Canaveral. Matter of fact some friends of mine own a great powerlifting gym, well technically in Oviedo, called Orlando Barbell. the owners are great lifters... actually Brian Schwab is one of the top powerlifters in the country in is weight class (148, 165) they are throwing a push pull/bench meet at the end of the month... Jan 27 i believe. I wont be competing but i will be there with my crew to check it out... this may be a great opportunity to see what it's all about and mingle with some top notch lifters. PM me if you are interested I would love to help you out in any way that i can.

Check out www.powerliftingwatch.com they have a federation comparison section were you can find all the raw drug tested feds. Then you can search and find all the raw untested feds that have meets in florida or where ever u want to compete. Your firm is good and I'd say your bench is plenty strong to win a meet, so go for it.

pinky on the rings is fine, not illegal at all, you just cant go wider than the rings.
