sore hips
my hips dont seem to be fully recovering from the previous squat workouts and it is really effecting my speed even with the lighter weights. so i took few weeks off and rested up since i assumed it was from overtraining. when i got back to the gym and started my next program and noticed my squat strength went down at least 30-40lbs and my hips were STILL sore....
not sure what to do exactly, i thought i gave them enough rest. my normal squat stance is semi-wide and my diet/sleep/and supplement program is really doing awsome.
my question is: should i chill out on the semi-wide stance squats and narrow it up? or maybe take it as far as just doing quarter squats for a few weeks with a lighter load then eventually increase depth? or substitute squats for leg press for a few a month or so?..
just to clarify this isnt an injury, just prolonged delayed onset muscle soreness. (very very prolonged)

Doc is right on here... as usual LOL!!! I like the idea of going with a narrow stance when training raw... I know I always do. It seems to make a huge difference in regards to hip comfort. I do wear a pair of single ply briefs though and I don't think the fact that you no longer compete really matters. The fact is the extra support will be benificial to your training and help in injury prevention... an idea that seems to have been lost with all this high tech expensive gear. Gear really was designed to help prevent injury, and lucky for you a pair of single ply briefs are probably the most affordable piece to get your hands on. Good luck with your healing and let us know how it goes for ya.

^^^ agree with RJ. the gear was designed to prevent injury. a loose pair will just help you out. it wont give you crazy carry over
