i always cut weight to make my weight class. i used to go down to 181. cant do that anymore. now i drop from 220 to 198. after i weigh in and rehydrate i am back closer to 220. it is all just a trick of the scale. what you weigh in at and what you lift at are 2 different things. it depends on how far you want to take it. if you drop a weight class, the competition is usually easier(not necessarily but mostly true) pretty much everybody drops a class , so for example if i go 220, than most likely i will really be competeing with guys who droped down from 240 so i will be at a disadvantage. sometimes i do compete at 220 if i just dont feel like droping weight. i have only competed heavy twice. one time i won. one time i lost. but when i cut, so far i havent lost ever( however i did bomb once) and the competition has been much easier. it depends on how serious you want to take it. the problem with droping a class is you have to re-hydrate properly and if you dont , you will lift like crap. i learned through trial and error how to do it and what works for me. once you master it it is easy. but to learn it, you have to give it a shot. first contest i wouldnt try it. i would go and have fund and just get experience. after that, i would consider cutting a class for your next meet

no truth to that at all. maybe in time you will put on weight, but you dont have to force it.

high protein low carb diets with light cardio about 4-6 wks out.if i had a two hour way in, i would do this.

if i had a 24 hour weigh in i may use some of these methods. 4 days before the contest you drink 2-3 gallons of water a day. day before you weigh in you drink nothing. this wil takeoff another 6lbs.

    sauna can help.

lasix's or dandelion root work wonders.

Thanx for your answer but I was wondering if I could lose 1 or 2 water pounds for a 2 hour weigh in, would it hurt my performance?

no one or two pounds wont be bad. just rehydrate as soon as you weigh in. be the first person at weigh in. than you get the most time to rehydrate

Everyone handles it a little different too bud, best bet is to do a dry run on a training day a good length out of a meet.
