just did my first powerlifting meet

I just did my first raw powerlifting meet. I have to say it was alot of fun. I'm actually a bodybuilder, and that is my main focus. I like powerlifting because it is alot more objective than bodybuilding. With bodybuilding it is judges opinion, but powerlifting it's who has the biggest numbers. I'm looking forward to doing more meets because I'm bulking now.

    Meet Stats
    height-5'9"
    weight-195lbs
    Bench-265lbs/ failed on 280lbs lockout
    Deadlift-460lbs
Total-725lbs good enough for 2nd place in the heavy weight class

There wasn't one. It was a small local meet. The judges and one of the competitors are member of US Powerlifting I think. Not sure though

I assume it was a push/pull meet, right, since there was no squat? Also, I have to tell you, powerlifting can be very subjective/objective as well. It's based on the judges interpretation of what a good lift is and what it isn't. If you youtube several powerlifting meets you will see some squats are called good and others not just even though the depth is the same.

I'm a powerlifter, btw. Still a lot better than being judged by what I look like in a speedo, IMO! LOL!!! I kid, I kid...

lol^^^ x2. The bench press is also extremely subjective, half the time the heavyweights don't even lock it out and it gets 3 whites (refer to Ryan Kennelly for good examples of that). The DL is really the only concrete lift...
Anyways, did you wear equipment for this meet? Deadlifting 460 at 195=very impressive.

Nope it was a raw meet. No equiptment. I didn't even wear a weight belt. I probably had another 15-20 pounds on the deadlift. I noticed that there chest are so thick and arms so short that they only benched like 3-5 inches lol. it suck to be an ectomorph lol.

15-20 lbs easy bro... I can barely deadlift 405*8 without a belt but with one I can pull 525 no prob.

I would like to get my strength up more naturally first. I think I can easily get my deadlift to 600, squat to 500, and bench to 350 in the next year.
